Laboratory Porter

Job Description

Provides inventory support and material handling. Maintains area cleanliness.

Job Responsibility

• * Receives and distributes deliveries from the laboratory receiving area to various laboratory departments.
• * Receives and fills supply orders from laboratory departments and outpatient clients.
• * Keeps inventory control of supplies for outpatient services including ordering from vendors.
• * Prints customized Laboratory requisitions for outpatient clients.
• * Maintains cleanliness of areas to conform with department standards related infectious waste and general appearance.
• * Rotates and empties surgical specimen jars and boxes them for surgical waste pick up.
• May ...
  
  
  
  • transport specimens, reports and or move equipment or furniture;
  • cover for Morgue Attendant; and/or
  • prepare and catalogue various items for offsite storage, as required.
  
  
• Performs related duties, as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Frequent standing, bending, walking, pushing, stooping, stretching, pulling, lifting objects 5 to 25 lbs
• Occasional lifting objects greater than 100 lbs (this includes moving cadavers and or heavy objects).

Job Qualification

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Minimum of one (1) year laboratory work experience including autopsy, inventory control and computer experiences, preferred.
