Responsibilities

The primary role of the Program Manager, Data Management, is to drive strategy, execution, and ongoing oversight of data governance project and standards that support the growth and scalability of various Data Analytics initiatives across the organization. This role is targeted at individuals who are looking to leverage their existing experience data governance experience to grow into a critical central figure within the Data Analytics team, and specific focus on the implementation and rollout of the Data Governance program. You will partner with stakeholders at various levels in the organization as well as the broader Enterprise data ecosystem.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Deliver operational excellence for the Data Governance Operations area, focusing on metadata management, data cataloging, and lineage management
  • Manages and analyzes information using a variety of techniques and tools in alignment with Enterprise standards
  • Developing and driving the Alation-based Unified Smart Catalog and Governance product and associated operating model
  • Grow and enhance our enterprise data governance program
  • Help execute the data governance strategy for Power BI to support the organization's strategic objectives - specifically around self-service
  • Assist the Data Governance Council in establishing priorities, driving and measuring progress and auditing data governance activities
  • Implements solutions to improve data quality for all data domains
  • Support regulatory compliance (PII) around data including GDPR and CCPA, limit organization's exposure to a data breach
  • Collaborate with teams to establish consistency in developing recommendations around policies, standards and framework for data governance
  • Collaborate with partners across the enterprise in designing and maintaining the data governance and data quality structures ensuring business needs are met while balancing quality, risk and cost
  • Map and assess current processes and structures for data governance and identify gaps and areas for improvement
  • Enhance and implement a multi-year data governance & data management roadmap
  • Facilitate strong engagement of data stewards and data domain owners to ensure Data governance function delivers measurable business value
  • Provide support to other teams and Data projects to ensure accurate alignment to data governance policies including data classification, data quality, data cataloging, and data discovery
  • Support project activities such as data migration and data validation
  • Serve as a point of escalation for high-impact data governance and data quality issues
  • Present oral and written presentations to key partners. Has the ability to support and influence across these stakeholders
  • Managing the build and communication of collateral to educate and train data users
  • Managing and prioritizing the opportunities to apply standards and policies to data and areas where authoritative source of data should be used
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensure ongoing adherence to policies, procedures, and internal controls, and meet all training requirements in a timely manner

Ancillary Duties:

As an integral member of Project Management Office, this position is also responsible to provide assistance wherever necessary to help the Bank in achieving their annual goals.


Qualifications

Education, Training and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of business needs, perform analysis, and execute solutions to transform the business through the Data Governance program focused on processes, technology, and policies. The Data Governance lead will be responsible for governance programs to support the Data Analytics practice across the organization. Strong understanding of various data platforms, such as SQL and data processes; ability to understand technical documentation and workflows. Knowledge of Data Governance tools, especially Alation; critical thinking and problem-solving skills; planning and organizing; decision making; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to escalate issues; ability to delegate; team oriented; adaptability to changing environments.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Metadata Management, Business Intelligence, Data Quality, Data Analysis, or Master Data Management. Experience capturing and documenting complex business and functional requirements comprehensively into enterprise data catalog. Familiarity with Enterprise Data Management including data access, data quality, data ingestion, and data infrastructure. Ability to lead various data initiatives across a heavily matrixed organization. Proven ability to communicate to a technical and non-technical audience. Experience in implementing large scale data programs or analytics solutions. Experience developing and maintaining data catalogs, data discovery and data quality tooling. Ability to drive continuous improvement efforts and be the change agent. Banking experience preferred.
