Location: William Booth Center (811 Maynard Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Pay: $80,000/year

Status: Regular Full-Time/Exempt

The Assistant Director administers and provides operational oversight to all William Booth Center (WBC) programs under the purview of The Salvation Army. The Assistant Director coordinates the operations of component departments through active interaction with program managers; analyzes contract content and compliance, analyzes training needs, promotes and coordinates training and development programs to improve individual and organizational performance; and is responsible for managing the operational program budget in close coordination with the positions supervised. Additionally, they will seek opportunities for funding development, communicate with existing and potential donors, host program tours, and make funding presentations.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain consistent communication with the Director of Housing on contracts, personnel, grievances, and partnerships.
  • Directly oversee William Booth Center program operations and staff including, supporting, training, and supervising staff, managing emergencies, and creating and following security procedures.
  • Foster proactive relationships with other service organizations and collaborate with other Salvation Army Programs.
  • Handle crisis and inquiry calls, offering support and referrals.
  • Conduct safety and facility inspections and address potential hazards and/or issues that may arise.
  • Assist the Director of Housing with budgeting and program contract compliance.
  • Maintain records, generate reports, and perform administrative duties.
  • Host facility tours, provide presentations to donors, and maintain a positive image of the WBC and TSA.
  • Maintains the stability and reputation of the organization by complying with legal contracts and accreditation/certification requirements
  • Maintains agency operations, by providing for the formation and enforcement of program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures and promotes positive agency image by presenting program services to the community; publicizing accomplishments of the agency; and adhering to a professional code of ethics
  • Maintains and enhances own professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and seminars; reviewing professional publications; and establishing professional networks
  • Develops and maintains team effort by modeling appropriate team behavior and utilizing opportunities to promote team spirit
  • Work in close coordination with the Housing Director, determine internal organizational structure, and staffing requirements to achieve the goals and objectives of WBC.
  • Reviews program operations and procedures for cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and goal achievement; develops improvements in close cooperation with the Director of Operations and WBC Assistant Director
  • Arranges for written agreements between The Salvation Army and subcontractors or other agencies participating in the program
  • Administers the program according to Salvation Army Policies and Procedures
  • Perform other administrative functions as requested


Education & Experience

  • Master's degree with major study in Social Work preferred; Psychology, Public Administration, Business, or a related field will also be considered. Equivalent program management and administration experience in lieu of formal education will be considered
  • One year of experience in residential services for adults.
  • 3 years of related supervisory experience

Health Insurance: Low bi-weekly premiums for employee-only coverage, Kaiser HMO for those residing in a Kaiser service area, Anthem EPO/PPO is available for those residing outside a Kaiser service area. Voluntary +1 and +family coverage at additional cost. Delta Dental DHMO and DPPO dental insurance are offered.

Life and Voluntary Options: An employer-paid life insurance policy covers employees. Voluntary supplemental life, short-term and long-term disability plans are available.

Retirement Plans: Employer-funded Money Purchase Pension Plan (Defined Contribution Plan) 50% vested at five years' eligible service time. Plus, an employee-funded voluntary 403(b) option.

Parental Leave: The benefit is 40 hours of Paid Leave for qualifying events.

Sick Leave: 12 days of Sick Leave annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after three months' service time.

Paid Vacation:



  • Two weeks annually, accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions.
  • Four weeks annually, from day one, for exempt positions.
  • Accrued vacation is eligible for use after six months' service time.


Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
