As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Business Office Clerk and Cashier who will promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by being responsible for maintaining the customer service counter and customer service email account in the Business Office. The Business Office Cashier and Clerk will also manage incoming calls Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This individual is responsible for processing and receipting all payments [cash, checks, electronic deposits and credit card payments] for the university and overseeing the general accounting that is completed by the office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
- Primary responsibility for greeting and assisting customers who visit the office in person including students, employees, vendors and other campus visitors. This individual also has responsibility for answering the telephone and general office email and responding to inquiries about student accounts.
- Primary responsibility for receiving and receipting of all payments received in the business office. This includes student payments, miscellaneous revenue and donations to the University. This task involves a level of review and decision-making using resources available from published costs, standard policies and procedures and team members.
- Responsible for daily oversight of the cash drawer and vault, as well as requesting and exchanging currency at the bank as necessary. This individual also is responsible for review and follow up on all cash advances processed by the business office.
- Primary responsibility for daily closing procedures, maintaining daily closing documentation, posting manual adjustments to student accounts as needed and directed by the Director and/or Assistant Director of Business Services.
- Responsible for ordering office supplies and overseeing and managing inventory of office supply items on hand.
- Other duties and tasks may be assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of Business Services as needed and deemed appropriate.

- A self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must possess the skills necessary to interact with students, employees, and other customers in a positive and professional manner on a daily basis.
- Experience with Colleague or similar student information system software preferred.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments concurrently; proven ability to operate successfully in a demanding environment.
- Excellent customer service, organizational, and administrative skills are essential along with the ability to effectively communicate to various constituents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Power Point, and the ability to learn new software programs.
- Must be able to be bonded and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and dived in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must possess a strong follow-through on all projects with the ability to bring projects to a timely completion.
