This position reports to

Supplier Quality Assurance Team Lead

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will drive the supplier qualification/re-qualification process and ensure the supply base is and remain fully qualified and compliant. Support supplier onboarding (buyer responsible). Do risk assessment and based on this, plan and conduct, or ensure, required supplier assessments including assessment reporting and non-conformance reporting. Verify effective closure of assessment non-conformances, by the supplier. Ensures each supplier is in compliance with the ABB Supplier Code of Conduct, ethics and corporate governance, ABB standards and applicable regulatory requirements. The role requires the ability to work closely with category teams, responsible buyers, Quality & Operations, Sustainability/HSE, R&D/Engineering and project tender teams, among others. Represents the "Voice of Supplier" to ABB, e.g. R&D, Engineering, Procurement & Logistics, Quality, and Manufacturing. Represents "Voice of Customer" to supplier.

This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power division in Richmond, VA.
You will be mainly accountable for:
*Supplier audits: perform supplier audits, establish development plans, and follow-up on corrective action plans.
*Part Qualification and PPAP: Review documentation, processes, and controls to meet ABB expectations. 1st article inspection and/or test coordination: review specification, drawing, packaging standards and measure parts. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to determine approval qualification procedures such as electrical, mechanical testing. And ensure parts are tested in a timely manner.
*Sub-contractors & outsourcing: monitor performance defects, create supplier performance reports, lead continuous improvements with supplier.
*Non-conforming materials: Lead and support non-conforming materials (NCM) issues with supplier and cross-functional teams.
*Drive continuous improvement initiatives and projects which might include cost savings, with a primary focus on supplier-related activities.
*Develop and support targeted suppliers to achieve ongoing conformity with Customer and ABB requirements and continuous improvement in quality. (e.g., reduction of variation and cost or increase of sustainability, service/delivery performance).

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's degree within a Business, Engineering field or related field.
  • 2 years of manufacturing experience
  • Ability to ensure conformance with Customer and ABB requirements and the implementation of category strategy both on short and long term.
  • Ability to perform risk mitigation activities.
  • Ability to lead required Supplier Performance Evaluations (SPE) and secure that the results are shared with the supplier (buyer responsible).
  • Travel required, less than 30%
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
