Position Summary:

The Yardman Driver operates the forklift and other mobile equipment to load and unload building materials in the yard of the Builders Supply retail store.

Duties/Responsibilities*:



  • Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards.
  • Assist customers and provide exceptional customer service with a positive attitude.
  • Load and unload building materials and other merchandise.
  • Deliver building materials to construction sites, residential address, and businesses.
  • Assist in tracking inventory. Notify Store Manager of any stock shortages.
  • Inspect new merchandise for damages.
  • Maintain organization of yard and keep it visually appealing.
  • Clean working area and equipment.
  • Perform startup and shutdown equipment inspections.
  • Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
  • On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.


Position Requirements: Must meet position requirements to be considered a candidate for this position.



  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Prior experience driving a forklift preferred.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate:

    • hand and power tools,
    • measuring instruments, and
    • inventory software on a PC preferred.


  • Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment Motor Vehicle Report.


Environmental Conditions:

May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, and variable temperatures and weather conditions.

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

Individuals must be willing to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Positions may require additional PPE at specific times. Examples of PPE which may be required include high visibility garments, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, foot protection, and a face shield.
