Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Pediatric Neurology - Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
Job Summary:
The Medical College of Wisconsin's Division of Pediatric Neurology is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - to join our multidisciplinary team in the pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU). This is a full-time inpatient role providing comprehensive, family-centered care for pediatric patients admitted for the evaluation and treatment of epilepsy and seizure-related disorders.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive and focused neurologic assessments of pediatric patients admitted to the EMU.
- Collaborate with epileptologists, neurologists, fellow APPs, nurses, EEG technologists, case managers, and other multidisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality, coordinated patient care.
- Monitor and manage patients undergoing continuous video-EEG monitoring, including implementation of seizure safety precautions, seizure evaluation, development of treatment plans, and medication adjustments.
- Assist with pre-surgical evaluations and post-operative care of patients undergoing epilepsy surgery.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and families about seizures, diagnostic tests and results, treatment options, medications, and seizure safety.
- Document clinical findings and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR) and complete other necessary documents.
- Support quality improvement and research initiatives within the EMU.
Schedule:
This is a full-time, inpatient position that requires scheduling flexibility to ensure appropriate patient care coverage.
- Typical hours are 7:00 am - 5:30 pm
- No overnight call
- Weekend and holiday coverage are required, shared in rotation with other APPs

Minimum Required Education
- Nurse Practitioner - Master's degree or higher in Nursing
- Physician Assistant - Bachelor's degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies
Minimum Required Certifications/Licenses:
Nurse Practitioner
- Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Active Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) license
- Current DEA license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Physician Assistant
- Current national certification by NCCPA
- Active Wisconsin Physician Assistant license
- Current DEA license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Preferred experience
- Previous neurology and/or APP experience preferred but not required
