The Finance Business Partner is responsible for managing financial planning and analysis process that supports one or more assigned service lines and departments for Empath - Stratum Health, Inc., and the organization's subsidiaries. The Finance Business Partner establishes strong cross-functional partnerships to support strategic financial planning and business objectives.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Analyze current operations and revenue cycle to identify changes that will enhance financial and operational performance.
  2. Develop working knowledge in one or more functional areas to support internal analysis and projects.
  3. Work with Service Line Leadership and Department Administrators to develop, recommend, and update business and strategic plans that support Empath - Stratum goals for clinical operations, new ventures, and other business opportunities.
  4. Help develop and review proformas for new lines of business.
  5. Assist in defining, monitoring, and analyzing key financial metrics and operational drivers and KPIs.
  6. Develop and maintain customized management reports.
  7. Assist Service Line leadership and managers in effectively interpreting and utilizing reports for managing financial budgets and forecasts.
  8. Communicate and present high level quantitative analyses to the senior leadership and service line administrators.
  9. Maintain expertise in the areas of national health care trends, third party reimbursement, and billing and collections.
  10. Collaborate with key department and operations leaders to develop budgets and forecasts and meet financial planning process schedules, goals, and objectives.
  11. Contribute to design and development of budget process.
  12. Assess completed budget processes for future improvements.
  13. Review monthly financials to identify and analyze management issues and explain budget and forecast variances.
  14. Understand, analyze, and offer recommendations regarding the full financial health of services lines and individual departments.
  15. Routinely summarize and report financial status of assigned service lines to department managers and senior leadership.
  16. Assess staffing levels, productivity, and compensation to provide feedback on performance against budget and benchmark comparisons.
  17. Ensure that all data, reports, and supporting information are maintained in a manner that is consistent, confidential, and protected.
  18. Identify and implement internal process improvements, both within Financial Planning & Analysis and in coordination with other departments.
  19. Complete and manage other special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree with concentration in business, finance, or health care administration.
  • Five + Years of Financial Planning & Analysis for multiple lines of healthcare, business and quantitative analysis experience required.
  • A team player with the ability to communicate effectively and develop strong working relationships across multiple levels and departments.
  • Strong financial modeling and data analysis skills, with significant Microsoft Excel experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in synthesizing data into insights that provide tangible results to the business.
  • Working knowledge of Workday Adaptive Planning a plus.
  • Experience with Tableau, Power Query, Power BI, or similar data analytics tools strongly desired.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are essential and prior direct customer service experience (internal and/or external) is necessary.
  • Must have characteristics include initiative, self-motivation, and willingness to jump in wherever needed, flexibility in shifting between tasks, ability to work independently, ability to monitor and set priorities, adaptability, and dependability.
