Job DescriptionThis position supports the planning and assessment activities of the college as part of its commitment to continuous improvement and institutional effectiveness. The position offers consultation and support to all units of the college to ensure they have documented processes for assessing performance and effectiveness as it relates to the unit's purpose in fulfilling the college's mission and its strategic plan. The position provides comprehensive training and consultation in the development and evaluation of divisional/departmental goals and/or student learning outcomes; as well as the analysis of data and development of improvement plans. This position is also instrumental in managing the institutional assessment and evaluation databases/technologies utilized for internal and external accountability reporting, including compliance on relevant accreditation standards. The position also serves as a consultant toward improving the quality of assessment practices and outcomes, providing training and working with faculty and staff to develop appropriate assessment tools and resources. The work requires cross-collaboration with other key functional areas and departments of the college involved in data collection, research, and reporting, to identify and/or develop appropriate assessment methods and artifacts for evaluating the extent to which goals/outcomes are achieved and areas of improvement/opportunity. This includes reviewing and improving program student learning outcomes, strategic plan related goals/outcomes, administrative effectiveness and student services goals/outcomes, assessment templates to ensure their effectiveness sand alignment with accreditation standards, reviewing, improving, and utilizing assessment rubrics ,and providing feedback to instructional and non-instructional units of the college. Other responsibilities include the gathering of data and other information for the production of customized reports to support the decision making, educational program review, the work of college committees, and other special projects/initiatives of the college. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Institutional Effectiveness over the Planning and Accreditation sector, and plays an integral role to maintaining a positive culture of institutional assessment and accountability at TSTC.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $57,542 with a mid-range of $63,296 based upon background and experience.

This is a Texas-based position and will be tied to a local campus. Please include your location and preferred campus with your resume.

Essential Functions

  • Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.
  • Assists in managing and maintaining the institutional assessment system for the purpose of institutional, divisional/departmental, and programmatic improvements in accordance with accreditation requirements. Also, provides ongoing support for planning and assessment activities, including the analysis of assessment reports, methods and results; coordination of the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of all unit assessment reports; and completion of data reports and assessment summaries.
  • Consults with stakeholders and delivers training to teams on the quality/content of assessment methodologies and practices. Assists with writing comprehensive user instructions for the assessment database and related documentation. Creates graphical presentations of data for internal and external reports; performs various computer activities using word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software to produce handouts, newsletters, brochures, presentation slides, or other documents, as needed.
  • Manages the maintenance and troubleshooting of planning and assessment databases and technologies. Identifies and reports technical problems that need to be addressed.
  • Maintains a close working relationship with cross functional areas such as but not limited to, Deans, Directors of Alignment, Business Intelligence, and Administrative and Student Services Department managers.
  • Also, researches and applies up-to-date approaches to the development and maintenance of resources for stakeholders in the areas of planning and assessment.
  • Compiles data, reports, and presentations; maintains documentation and monitors planning and assessment databases for completeness and compliance; revises relevant forms to reflect changes in policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from an accredited college or university required. Experience in the field may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting / administering planning processes.
  • Experience in implementing institutional effectiveness systems in the higher education environment as it relates to accreditation compliance preferred.
  • Experience in implementing and managing software system technologies preferred.
  • Strong ability to present information in a clear concise manner both in writing and verbally.
  • General knowledge in data collection and analysis techniques.
  • Extensive project management experience that supports achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Competence in critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and promote a conducive work environment.
  • Strong computer skills with database, spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • This job description covers a position in which the percentage of time spent on the essential functions will vary based on the workload and will ultimately be determined by the supervisor.
