Job Summary

PROCESS SAFETY LEADER
Overview: The Site Process Safety Leader leads and coordinates efforts to effectively evaluate the plant process safety hazards and implement effective programs to mitigate risk. This role is responsible to ensure hazard identification and risk assessment activities are completed for all processes in scope, develops plans to implement improved controls, and oversees implementation of policies, programs, and procedures to systematically reduce process safety risks. The Process Safety Leader will establish and sustain programs and systems to meet regulatory and corporate compliance.

Responsibilities

Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
*Participate in or lead hazard identificationrisk assessmentsfor facility processes, equipment, and systems.
*Prescribe required safeguards and controls for various hazards (e.g.,
combustible dust, acute toxics, corrosives, flammables, asphyxiants, reactive chemistry, hazardous kinetic energy).
Process Knowledge
*Build documentation and references to create a process knowledge package for all processes defined as a process safety risk.
*Cover process material design, process design basis, and equipment design basis in the documentation.
Management of Change
*Evaluate new and changes to existing processes, equipment, and systems for process hazards using a robust management of change system.
*Ensure roles for subject-matter expertise are filled to adequately assess potential EHS impacts.
Compliance with Standards
*Apply Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP) for process equipment design, installation, operation, maintenance, and test and inspection practices.
Monitoring & Measurement
*Monitor process safety performance to meet goals and objectives established by the Global Process Safety competency.*Track and report key performance indicators and process safety metrics.
*Document and report site process safety performance and review with site management as part of EHS management systems review.

Incident Investigation
*Lead or participate in process safety incident investigations with operational teams to mitigate hazards and prevent recurrence.
Requirements
Education:
*Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Experience:
*Minimum 2 years of experience in site process safety programs, application of RAGAGEP and technical standards, process safety compliance auditing or inspections, and leading process hazard analysis (PHA) or risk assessment processes preferred.
Skills:
*Excellent planning and organization, ability to translate regulatoryrequirements to functional application, technical knowledge of industrial safeguards and process controls, communication, critical thinking, relationship-building, and data management skills.
Training / Certifications
Certifications:
*Certified Process Safety Professional (CPSP) or equivalent certifications
preferred.
