Job Summary |
This position provides professional research and extension assistance within the research group of Dr. Adam Rabinowitz in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology. The individual selected will serve as a research associate, assisting with the management and execution of integrated sponsored program projects on a variety of topics in agricultural economics that requires expertise in research methods and educational curriculum development and instruction. This person will work on multiple simultaneous projects and assist with data collection, data analysis, writing publications curriculum, and delivering programming. This is a one-year limited term position and is funded from external sources. Initial hiring and continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds. |
Essential Functions |
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in the development and implementation of complex project proposals, plans, and protocols
- Ability to write and deliver research-based educational curriculum targeted towards agricultural producers
- Collect data from written documents, through survey design and implementation, and from secondary sources
- Record, compile, process, and analyze data using statistical or econometric methods
- Document results in writing for publication and presentation to others across a diverse audience including academic journals and meetings, and agricultural producers
- Coordinating and delegating duties to research and extension teams
- Working with external stakeholders to achieve project objectives
- Documenting research and extension activities including communicating activities with internal and external audiences
- Ability to maintain project budgets and assist in securing additional funding

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications |
Research Associate I:
Master's degree in Economics/Agricultural Economics or related field; no experience required.
Research Associate II:
Master's degree in Economics/Agricultural Economics or related field and two years of experience in research practices and protocols relevant to the position.
*Indicated education is required; no substitutions allowed.
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience. |

- Prior experience in data entry and management
- Strong written and communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain partnerships within and outside the University
- Ability to lead and provide oversight to staff and students
- Ability to turn vision into action and results
- Ability to work independently, handle responsibilities in a timely manner with very little direction or supervision, and strong organizational skills

A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to selection is required. |
