The Assistant Vice President, Foundation & Research Relations will lead Boston Children's program to secure and grow foundation support from local, national, and international sources. This role works at the highest levels of the hospital, partnering with board members, senior administration, chiefs, scientists, and other faculty and hospital stakeholders as appropriate.

This AVP, Foundation & Research Relations will:

  • Design and implement creative strategies and solutions to substantially grow foundation support via strategic cultivation and stewardship.
  • Drive short- and long-range planning related to foundations revenue and activity.
  • Collaborate with other programs (i.e. Research, Donor relations, Individual Giving, etc.) to ensure that foundation prospects are identified, researched, engaged, and stewarded in the most effective ways.
  • Coach and mentor staff within Foundation Relations to build strong institutional relationships and expand support.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of experience in fundraising.
  • At least 5 years of experience with professional management of a complex and prestigious corporate or foundation support program associated with a large non-profit organization.
  • Strong analytical skills; exceptional writing and verbal skills; computer proficiency; knowledge of scientific areas of medical research is highly desirable.
  • Excellent management skills with demonstrated ability to elevate team and develop fundraisers.
  • Ability to understand complex medical and scientific projects and can describe them with accuracy and persuasion, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to persuade and negotiate with peer level department heads and/or with external agencies/facilities on issues and programs that impact the assigned department as well as several other large departments/divisions.
