MRM is seeking a candidate with specialized expertise in advertising and marketing compliance, with a focus on the automotive industry. This role will ensure that all content adheres to legal, regulatory, and industry-specific standards, including the accuracy of claims and compliance with consumer protection laws. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal knowledge and a deep understanding of advertising regulations, particularly within the automotive sector. The Legal Clearance Manager will play a key role in ensuring that MRM's advertising initiatives remain both innovative and compliant, safeguarding the agency and its clients from potential regulatory risks.

Legal Certification & Experience:

Paralegal certification or equivalent legal experience, particularly in advertising and marketing compliance.
Strong Proofreading & Legal Review Skills:
*
Expertise in proofreading and conducting legal reviews, particularly in automotive advertising and regulatory compliance.
Industry Experience:
*
Experience working with advertising agencies or within the automotive industry.
Knowledge of Advertising Law:
*
Strong understanding of advertising law, intellectual property, and consumer protection regulations.
Independent Workflow Management:
*
Ability to independently manage workflows, prioritize tasks, and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
Critical Thinking & Legal Interpretation:
*
Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to interpret and apply legal guidelines to real-world marketing strategies.
In This Role, You Will:
Creative Collaboration:
*
Work with creative teams to ensure the production of high-quality materials while maintaining compliance with legal guidelines and brand governance.
Legal Risk Analysis:
*
Assess potential legal risks related to creative content.
*
Provide recommendations to senior management to mitigate any identified risks.
Claims Substantiation:
*
Collaborate with Product Information Managers to ensure all claims are substantiated with proper documentation.
Release Management:
*
Oversee the collection of necessary releases for the use of names, likenesses, testimonials, locations, and other materials.
Trademark & IP Research:
*
Conduct research on trademarks and intellectual property rights to protect the company's assets and avoid infringement.
Image Usage Verification:
*
Work with Art Producers and Creative Technologists to verify that image usage rights are properly secured.
Compliance Oversight:
*
Ensure all creative content complies with legal requirements, including claims, disclaimers, affidavits, and substantiations.
Trademark Search Management:
*
Manage and oversee trademark searches to prevent conflicts and ensure correct trademark usage.
Team Leadership & Training:
*
Supervise a team of legal compliance staff.
*
Develop and deliver training programs to ensure agency staff adhere to legal and compliance standards.
Database Management:
*
Lead efforts to enhance and maintain an efficient in-house disclaimer database.
Material Review & Legal Guidelines:
*
Review all creative materials to ensure compliance with client and agency legal guidelines.
*
Reference approved legal templates for standard pricing and disclaimers.
Liaison Role:
*
Serve as the primary point of contact between internal teams and the client's legal department.
*
Facilitate communication and arrange calls between internal teams and the client's legal group as needed.
Legal Submission Tracking:
*
Track all legal submissions, including dates and feedback, in an organized format.
Prioritization of Reviews:
*
Help prioritize legal reviews of creative materials to ensure timely approval processes.
Dissemination of Legal Feedback:
*
Distribute feedback from the client's legal team and agency legal team to relevant internal parties (Account Management, Business Affairs, Production, PI).
Coordination of Creative Updates:
*
Collaborate with the Account Management team to ensure legal and PI feedback are integrated into creative materials.
Additional Legal Support:
*
As needed, assist with trademark searches, legal clearances, and other legal projects requested by Business Affairs.
Risk Mitigation:
*
Ensure that all necessary parties are involved in situations where the agency may face legal risks.
What We Are Looking For:

Specialized Experience in Advertising Compliance:
o
Expertise in advertising and marketing compliance, particularly in the automotive industry.

Strong Legal Acumen:
o
Deep understanding of legal and regulatory standards within advertising, with a particular focus on consumer protection laws.

Advertising Regulations Knowledge:
o
Strong knowledge of the legal regulations that govern advertising, especially within the automotive sector.

Excellent Communication Skills:
o
Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and communicate complex legal issues clearly and effectively.

Detail-Oriented:
o
A keen eye for detail and ability to review materials for compliance with legal requirements.
*
Proactive and Organized:
o
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while ensuring all legal requirements are met within tight timelines.

Experience in Legal Research:
o
Proficiency in conducting trademark and IP research and ensuring proper clearance for materials.
*
Team Leadership:
o
Proven experience in managing teams, developing training programs, and ensuring compliance with legal standards across creative teams.
