STS Technical Services is hiring an Engine Test Site Manager to oversee the on-site installation, commissioning, and field operations for cutting-edge aerospace test equipment in Indianapolis, Indiana.

This is a long-term, field-based role that combines technical leadership, hands-on problem-solving, and project management. About the Role:

Our client designs, installs, and supports advanced aerospace test systems, including engine test cells. As the on-site leader in Indianapolis, you will be responsible for managing all daily field operations and coordinating closely with project managers, subcontractors, and client stakeholders to ensure projects are executed safely, on time, and within budget.

This contract is expected to last a minimum of two years, with strong potential for long-term extensions or additional projects-both in the region and beyond.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage on-site installation and commissioning of engine test equipment
  • Serve as the primary on-site technical lead; spend approximately 80% of time in the field and 20% in the office
  • Coordinate directly with the Montreal-based Project Manager and local client representatives
  • Supervise and schedule both internal CEL team members and subcontractors
  • Lead daily site meetings, enforce OSHA and site safety protocols, and maintain high-quality standards
  • Track progress using daily activity reports and photographic documentation
  • Interpret project drawings and specifications, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance
  • Oversee resource allocation, material tracking, and site logistics
  • Prepare scopes of work, validate performance metrics, and assist with post-project analysis

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a technical field-based role (preferably in aerospace or high-tech sectors)
  • OSHA 30 certification (required)
  • Experience managing subcontractors and internal technical teams on complex installations
  • Hands-on knowledge of engine test cells, mechanical systems, and electrical infrastructure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project, and AutoCAD
  • Must reside near Indianapolis, Indiana, and be available on-site every workday
  • Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and customer service skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and collaborate across engineering disciplines

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

  • Familiarity with commissioning tools, validation techniques, and startup protocols
  • Skilled in documentation, performance tracking, and post-mortem analysis
  • Comfortable in fast-paced field environments with evolving technical demands
  • Open to future travel for continued project support beyond the initial two-year assignment
