Under general supervision, the Tubing Operator loads, runs, and package finished goods on Tubing lines. The position reports to the leader on any work status updates. Responsibilities Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Reads and interprets production paperwork (e.g. Sales Orders, Production Notes Customer Specifications, and Set-Up Sheets)
- Loads material into a hopper.
- Sets up assigned machine for production using previously determined guidelines and specifications
- Sets up, maintains and performs change overs on Tubing lines by following customer specifications.
- Audits material consumption and loading
- Enters all production data into PDE and QIS systems
- Inspects and prepares customer samples as required following product specifications
- Re-processes byproduct into regrind
- Conducts tooling changes or machine adjustments
- Recommends improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
- Suggests changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency of plant, department, or work crew
- Attends shift and safety meetings when required
- Assists coworkers to meet organizational key performance indicators
- Acquires skills to operate lines in one production segment
- Performs duties of Utility, and Machine Operator when needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required Education & Skillsets:
- Ability to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, managers and customers
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex multiple step instructions
- Ability to deal with problems and non-standardized situations with multiple variables
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate strong time management skills
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions and correspondence
- Ability to travel between facilities
- Ability to work overtime if required to meet business demands
- Ability to use a computer; including but not limited to manufacturing software
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations, aided, including fractions and decimals
- Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements in fractions and decimals
Preferred Education & Skillsets:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Associates degree from a technical school
- 1-3 years experience with dies and extruders
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee must:
- Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Be able to push or pull heavy objects with mechanical assistance
- Be able to work 12 hours shifts
- Perform repetitive tasks
- Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk
- Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist and balance; sometimes in awkward or tight spaces
- Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
- Meet Mativ certification requirements to operate Power Industrial Trucks
PPE Requirements: Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment including;
- Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe)
- Safety Glasses
- Bump Caps
- Protective Gloves; when performing certain tasks
- Hearing Protection; when required
- Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks
Work Environment:
- Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot
- Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors
- May include mechanical, electrical, chemical hazards
