About the Department |
The Biotechnology Teaching Program provides laboratory instruction to undergraduate and graduate students to facilitate learning technical skills required in a research environment. |
Essential Job Duties |
The Research Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining classroom laboratory facilities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintenance and running of analytical equipment, including but not limited to Real-time thermal cyclers, Sea Horse, nanospectrophotometers, fluorescent imaging microscopes, microplate readers, liquid handlers, and FPLCs.
- Function as the facilities and safety representative.
- Classroom support is required including reagent and materials preparation for courses and program outreach events. The incumbent will need to have working knowledge of biotechnology research materials, equipment, reagents, and mammalian cell culture sterile technique.

Other Responsibilities |
- Conduct interviews and help select undergraduate student laboratory assistants.
- Monitor and assign work, counsel and discipline employees under direct supervision.
- Facilitate student work in conjunction with instructor needs.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
Bachelor's degree and two years of general research experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Other Required Qualifications |
- Good organizational skills, and good communication skills.
- Ability to work with a team.
- Familiarity with standard molecular biology equipment, reagents, and techniques.

- Experience working in a research laboratory environment.
