Essential Job Duties |
The primary purpose of this position is to support, maintain, and facilitate programs and events that take place within the NC State Student Centers with an emphasis on lighting and sound design, technical direction, and production management.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in training, supervising, and scheduling student technical event support staff.
- Assist in setup and breakdown of events within the NC State Student Centers, including but not limited to tables, chairs, risers, and audiovisual equipment.
- Serve as the main point of contact and support for building managers, operations staff, event staff, reservations assistants, and information desk assistants.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, work with the production manager and associate director to determine and implement an equipment upgrade schedule and equipment maintenance schedule of all audiovisual equipment.

- Model the Division's mission and values and foster a positive, cohesive workplace and congeniality among co-workers.
- Understand the goals and culture of the organization, and understand how employees' work activities, teamwork, and customer service impact clients. Work with your supervisor and colleagues to understand these goals and the culture.
- Adhere to all University policies, procedures, and regulations, and Division standard operating practices and protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure NC State Student Centers business needs are met.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in audiovisual equipment operation and maintenance, graphic design, and/or photography; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. |
Other Required Qualifications |
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with customers, peers and supervisors; and professionally communicate with multiple levels of employees within the University.
- Provide outstanding customer service, including the ability to remain professional and respectful under pressure when dealing with difficult situations.
- Must follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Excellence in completing all tasks.
- Ability to use or learn to use email and use a PC and MS Office Suite (or similar) proficiently.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Demonstrate an ability to work under stress and complete complex work assignments and projects.
- Have demonstrated experience in financial matters to manage and analyze budgets.
- Possess superb organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Comprehensive working knowledge of special event lighting and live sound reinforcement.
- Experience with identifying and repairing problems with lighting and audio visual equipment including intelligent lighting.

- Valid driver's license
- Valid NC driver's license or ability to obtain within 60 days of start date is required.
- Must be maintained as a condition of employment.
