The Administrative Assistant for the History, Humanities and Modern Languages Department (HHML) provides administrative support services to the HHML Department Chair, several faculty area coordinators within HHML, and HHML Department faculty. The HHML Department is one of the University's largest departments, offering general education course requirements, as well as B.A. and A.A. degrees in Spanish, American Sign Language, History, and Humanities/Philosophy/Religious Studies. HHML is also home to the English as a Second Language (ESL) program. Students also can complete minors associated with HHML (Spanish, History, Humanities, Philosophy, and Political Science). Additional information about the department and program offerings can be found online at https://humanities.utahtech.edu/.HHML will move to its new home in the General Classroom Building (a 120,000 square-foot building to house the College of Humanities and Social Sciences) in mid-July 2025.

Responsibilities
-
- Support HHML Department Chair, subject area Coordinators, faculty, advisors, and students. Tasks include:
- Department records management.
- Budgeting and account reconciliation.
- Expense/reimbursement management.
- Course scheduling.
- IT and facility management work orders submission and management.
- Book and office supply orders.
- Office equipment management and maintenance.
- Copy and print requests.
- Website content editor.
- Semester syllabi and grade book management.
- Use of school database systems, including Banner and Argos, for administrative and reporting purposes.
- Greet visitors, answer phones, receive messages, distribute mail, and direct students/visitors to proper areas/offices on campus.
- Prepare and track purchase requisitions, travel authorizations, part-time instructor teaching agreements, equipment inventory, meeting minutes, and other university forms and processes as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
-
- Associate's degree, or vocational/technical school degree, required. An equivalent level of college coursework will also be considered. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three years' full-time office experience is required; experience working in higher education is preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with campus and community members.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task with faculty, staff, and students.
- Knowledge of professional office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook); knowledge of computer systems unique to higher education (Banner, Canvas, Argos, etc.) preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Good working knowledge of financial recordkeeping procedures.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Full-time non-exempt staff (overtime-eligible) position. Annual salary of $35,700, with a desired start date of June/July 2025.
