Overview
The Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Operations (Athletic Operations Coordinator) works directly with the Head Track and Cross Country Coach. They are responsible for team travel, practice scheduling, facility management, budget tracking, meet management, recruiting, and other assigned duties. This position will also act as a liaison within other units of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Utah State, as well as with the Cache Valley and Utah State University communities. The primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.

Responsibilities
Administration:
  • Budget
    • Budget forecasting.
    • Track expenditures for budget.
    • Responsible for team expense travel reports.
    • Liaison with the Utah State University Athletics Business Office.
  • Liaison to USU Department of Transportation and Parking Services, Equipment, Video, Alumni and Public Relations, Visiting Team and Student-Athlete Affairs
  • Office Management
    • Liaison for newly hired and departing coaches.
    • Maintain monthly updates of current roster contact information.
    • Maintain files for current and past players.
    • Special projects and requests.
    • Coordinate staff meetings.

Team Travel:
  • Accountable for team travel budget ensuring team travel is within approved budget.
    • Responsible to schedule all travel to ensure team arrives for competitions.
    • Schedule all hotels, flights and buses as necessary.
    • Order all meals to ensure proper feeding of student-athletes while following University and department policies.
    • Distribute communication on travel.
    • Approve all player and coach pass list needs in conjunction with NCAA policies.

Facilities:
  • Scheduling meeting spaces/facilities for team meetings, practice and other needs that may arise
  • Liaison with Events staff for home competitions
  • Organizing and track team locker room lockers

Coaching:
  • Assist Head Coach is all aspects of team practices and workouts
  • Write and direct workouts as assigned
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with student-athletes
  • Meet weekly with designated student-athletes

Recruiting:
  • Accountable for recruiting travel while adhering to budget
  • Finding and contacting recruits
  • Coordination of official visit planning
  • Accountable for recruiting budget and adhering to budget
  • Responsible for recruiting database and documenting recruits
  • Accountable for filing all NCAA and University paperwork for official and unofficial recruiting visits.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree; OR relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Experience as a staff member in the areas of operations or coaching.
  • Experience with NCAA Division I Intercollegiate programs.

Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, including lifting up to 25 pounds, walking and standing.
