Job Summary

Supervises, plans and coordinates the activities of technical and support construction trade employees and contractors who perform a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of Corewell Health's, buildings, aesthetics and related structures, fixtures and utilities. Reviews and triage project requests to determine work priorities. Schedules construction actives in a safe manner. Coordinates refresh, renovation and equipment replacement projects. Act as project manager for high profile efforts within the facilities portfolio.

Essential Functions
  • Plans, assigns, supervises and evaluates the quality of work for construction and trade support employees performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled craft related work, such as: grounds, carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration.

  • Triage all facilities improvement project requests, manage communication for the move, add, change (MAC) program.

  • Rounds all projects within the portfolio weekly to ensure trade work is performed on time, satisfactorily, clean and compliant with the organization infection control requirements.

  • Reviews production, quality control, monitors and evaluates all projects to ensure maximum efficiencies and minimal resource or operational delays.

  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.

  • Coordinates renovation and refresh projects. This includes providing for project estimates, capital and non-capital budgeting, directing contractors, managing scope, schedule, budget and making recommendations on facility requirements.

  • Supervises construction activities of contracted and internal support employees who are engaged in performing a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of Corewell Health's buildings, aesthetics and related structures, fixtures and utilities. Provides direction and support to subordinate staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning and assigning work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Oversee the department vehicle fleet. Verify and coordinate all traveling team members have appropriate transportation to and from assigned location. Maintain all vehicles cleanliness and mechanical functions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent or equivalent, or technical degree or equivalent education, training and experience

  • 5 years of relevant experience Skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through 5+ years of related experience

  • 5 years of relevant experience Construction project management or superintendent experience.

  • Experience supervising building and facilities construction functions in an organization of comparable size and complexity to Corewell Health
