POSITION SPECIFICS

A position is available for a Lab Coordinator Life Sciences (Intermediate Professional) in the Vazquez Lab. The Vazquez Lab studies the evolution of aging-related traits across mammals and the gene regulatory networks that govern them. Projects in the laboratory include: the evolution of somatic mutations across bats; differences in DNA damage repair across mammals; and population genetics of bats and other mammals. The role's primary responsibilities will be to maintain and organize our chemical and biological inventories, including coordinating lab orders, obtaining supplier quotes, and making purchases; to maintain equipment records, including scheduling regular maintenance; and to maintain a catalog of standard operating procedures in the lab, including training new and existing lab members. Additionally, the Lab Coordinator will be expected to assist with experiments to generate data for grant proposals, including data analysis. Experiments in the lab will include the following techniques: mammalian cell culture, molecular biology (including: DNA/RNA/Protein extractions, PCR, RT-qPCR, Western blots, and nucleic acid library preparation for sequencing), cellular biology (including: imaging and immunohistochemistry), high-throughput assays (fluorescence- and luminescence-based), and flow cytometry. Participation in lab meetings is expected. Mustworkeffectively in a team setting, be able to communicate well, and keep clear records. Rabies vaccination and biennial titer checks are strongly recommended OR required and will be covered by the laboratory.

The successful applicant must have strong organizational skills; attention to detail; the ability toworkboth independently and collaboratively in a research team; good interpersonal skills; a love of learning and education; and the ability to communicate clearly with team members and the PI.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $42,100.00 - $61,000.00.
