Job # EE25042 Job Title Chief Specialist Field Engineering Office Location Roanoke, VA Business Function /Department Industrial Systems / Operations Sales Territory, if applicable General Role Description Provide technical leadership and direction of field engineering services for the commissioning of drives, motors, and automation technologies applied to industrial systems with time horizons up to 2 years Role Accountabilities - Create and lead cross-functional teams to identify and coordinate the implementation of continuous improvement ideas for field engineering processes, ensuring optimal information flow during project execution - Provide technical consulting, coaching, and training to company and subsidiary engineering team members and external clients to transfer knowledge of Company processes, product solutions, and industry best practices to ensure successful project execution, as directed by management - Facilitate root cause analysis, corrective action development, and implementation to remediate gaps and their causes - Conduct gap analysis to validate commissioned systems meet performance requirements of the as-specified and as-designed solution - Define, document, and implement field engineering process requirements, as assigned - Research and assess the Company's drives, motors, and automation technologies and recommend product enhancements and new product technologies that improve field engineering capabilities to senior management - Prepare and communicate field engineering documents for end users - Create and implement a methodology to track and ensure knowledge transfer of engineering and development enhancements and new technology to the specific Field Engineering teams - Maintain current safety qualifications appropriate to the assigned tasks and adhere to both Company and client safety requirements General Employee Accountabilities - Bring full effort to bear on tasks assigned by manager - Give manager best advice - Give earliest notice when work cannot be delivered as specified - Cooperate and collaborate with peers and interact cross-organizationally as specified by manager - Exemplify Company Core Values: Integrity, Client Focus, Team Orientation, and Personal Commitment - Comply with all Company policies, practices, and procedures, and all regulations and laws - Recommend viable improvements proactively - Ensure effective utilization of business tools and processes Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent via education and/or work experience - 7 years' experience in the commissioning and/or design of drives and controls in one or more of the following sectors: steel mills, port solutions, container terminal market, paper, and process industries - Demonstrated knowledge and experience with TMEIC family of low and medium voltage motor drive controls, engineering tools, and product configuration tools - Demonstrated success communicating TMEIC position on technical issues, resulting in documented agreement with clients and/or suppliers - Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts - Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills - Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility - Proficiency in MS Office, industrial software programming, and simulation tools - Demonstrated presentation skills - Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, up to 75%, sometimes with limited notice - Demonstrated technical leadership skills Preferred Qualifications - Master of Science degree in electrical, systems, or computer engineering - Demonstrated experience in international Field Engineering - Demonstrated success leading teams, coaching, and directing the work of others Link to TMEIC Corporation Americas website: https://www.tmeic.com/.
