SUMMARY: The Consumer Loan Specialist prepares and completes a variety of documents related to consumer loans, and is responsible for ensuring loan documents are completed in accordance with all consumer loan regulatory requirements. Opens loan files received from branch approvals, then orders necessary documents such as: appraisals, owner's verification, title reports and title commitments, inspections, flood determination, insurance, and payoffs. Reviews title received and clears any title exceptions. Prepares loan documentation for all consumer loans. Initiates internal and external customer contact to obtain information necessary to facilitate credit decisions, information verification and loan closings. Contacts prospective customers directly via phone and written correspondence to prepare them for the closing and facilitates scheduling of loan closings with branches. Completes data entry of indirect loan applications to facilitate underwriter and automated decision making process. Completes and submits subordination worksheets to underwriting for internal subordination, modification and conversion requests. Prepares real estate subordinations, modifications and conversion documentation for internal customers. Interacts with assigned branches to facilitate timely loan closings. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two years of banking or lending department experience is required. Prior experience in consumer loan documentation and/or lending is preferred. Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school is preferred. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Necessary computer skills include data entry utilizing Microsoft office products and consumer and commercial loan origination software. The ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends is a requirement. This is a demanding position due to working within tight deadlines, and requires the individual to work effectively within a deadline-driven environment. |
