Did you know that when natural gas is supercooled at -260F or -162C, it turns into a liquid state known as liquefied natural gas (LNG)? As a clear colorless, odorless, non-toxic liquid, the volume of LNG is about 600 times smaller than its gaseous state! The liquefaction process allows natural gas to be used as a transportation fuel and ships by sea all over the world via specialized LNG vessels.

Sound exciting? Come join us today as an LNG Plant Operator! As a critical function of this role, you will manage the day-to-day operations and maintenance of Enbridge's Kingsport LNG Facility.

Here's what you will do:

  • Operates all Station prime movers and compressors, including start, stop, load adjustment, alarm monitoring and initial response as required.

  • Operate and maintain all equipment associated with liquefying and vaporizing natural gas

  • Recognizes and reacts to abnormal conditions associated with duties.

  • Monitors unit and process functions during normal operations and performs periodic checks of all operating variables.

  • Sets up processes in various operating modes based on system and customer demands.

  • Monitors, operates and performs routine inspections on station air systems, fuel systems, cooling water systems, oil systems, and safety systems.

  • Supervises operational pressures and alarm set points.

  • Operates station auxiliary operational equipment and all station valves.

  • Monitors operation of station filter systems and liquids storage systems.

  • Completes reports accurately and completely.

  • Advises other employees in performance of routine operational duties.

  • Assists others in routine troubleshooting and repair of station equipment.

  • Involved in planning work and contributing budget related information as required, consistent with the annual budgeting process.

  • Consistently works in a safe, responsible manner and actively participates in safety related programs.

  • Actively participates as a work group team member and maintains a cooperative work relationship with fellow employees.

Who you are:

You Have the following education and experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.

  • A valid Driver's license.

  • Minimal directly relevant training and experience.

  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends, shift, on call and standby, and travel overnight as required.

  • Must be able to perform physically fast paced activities in all types of weather conditions.

  • Currently reside or is willing to reside within a 30-mile radius from the facility you are assigned.

Desired Skills

  • Process Operations and/or Liquefied Natural Gas Experience

  • Possesses the desire to learn and advance, as a Station Operator.

  • Solid understanding of operations used in maintenance and repair of pipelines and operational equipment.

  • Strong technical and analytical skills proven through training, formal education, and/or experience.

  • Computer literate with solid understanding of Excel and Word.

  • Able to work independently with little to no direction.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Able to work and contribute to a team environment where inclusiveness, integrity, honestly and openness are valued.

  • Proven track record of performing jobs safely.

  • Innovative problem solver without compromising SOPs.

  • Willing to assume responsibility and take initiative to resolve issues.

Physical Requirements:

Include but are not limited to: Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 25 pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (objects up to 25 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.
