Hourly Pay Range:

$26.61 - $39.92 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Chaplain - Per Diem
  • Location: Evanston Hospital (other EndeavorHealth sites as needed)
  • Full Time/Part Time: Resource - Per Diem
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, days/times vary based on dept needs; 5:30pm-8:30pm on call shifts; also 8:30am-5pm on-call shifts. 4-6 shifts a month.
  • Required Travel: Yes

What you will do:

  • Provide effective spiritual care to patients and their loved ones and to hospital staff during evening/night, weekend and holiday on-call shifts and occasional weekday shifts at the Evanston, Glenbrook, Highland Park, and Skokie hospitals
  • Provide appropriate spiritual care interventions including prayer, sacramental resources, crisis response and support, end-of-life care, advance care planning, grief support, interdisciplinary care
  • Complete evidence-informed spiritual assessments
  • Triage and manage multiple spiritual care requests effectively
  • Partner with community clergy concerning patient and family spiritual needs
  • Engage in regular, purposeful rounding
  • Complete electronic documentation of all spiritual care encounters
  • Sign up for evening/night, weekend and holiday shifts to support the hospitals' 24-hour/day coverage
  • Participate in the department's regularly scheduled professional development activities

What you will need:

  • Education: Master's degree or higher; Preferred 2 units of Clinical Pastoral Education from an accredited Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) Accredited Program.
  • Endorsement: Endorsed by endorsing group.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year in acute-care hospital or in hospice setting
  • Unique or Preferred Skills: Interpersonal communication and customer service skills; pastoral presence, listening and empathy skills; critical thinking skills; spiritual assessment skills; computer skills for electronic documentation; effective team player; "can-do" attitude.
