- The Senior Mechanical/Utility Engineer is responsible for leading the design, installation, optimization, and maintenance of complex utility systems and heavy equipment.
- This role needs advanced expertise in mechanical engineering with specialization in industrial utilities including compressors, cooling towers, water management systems, and pneumatic systems.
- The Senior Engineer will lead projects, develop technical standards, mentor junior engineers, and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
- Lead the design, selection, and implementation of mechanical and utility systems for new and existing facilities
- Develop comprehensive specifications and technical standards for utility equipment and systems
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and qualification of heavy equipment and utility systems
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex mechanical and utility system issues
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
- Manage utility-related capital projects from concept through implementation
- Conduct technical reviews and risk assessments for proposed equipment and system changes
- Optimize utility systems for energy efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
- Develop long-term strategic plans for utility infrastructure improvements
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians on mechanical and utility system principles
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure utility systems meet production requirements
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs and engineering standards
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Lead root cause analysis investigations for significant equipment failures
- Implement OSHA standards in work culture to achieve zero recordable injuries at all times
- Develop and enforce safety protocols for utility systems operations and maintenance.

Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical/utility engineering in an industrial environment
- Minimum 7 years of experience with installation, commissioning, and optimization of heavy industrial equipment
- Minimum 7 years of experience in developing and implementing energy conservation initiatives
- Minimum 7 years of experience in engineering codes and standards (ASME, API, etc.)
- Minimum 7 years of experience with utility system modelling and simulation
- Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering principles and industrial utility systems
- Minimum 7 years of experience in compressors, cooling towers, water management systems, and pneumatic systems
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Project management experience with leading capital improvement projects
- Minimum 7 years of experience in reading and creating detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in energy conservation techniques and utility optimization
- Minimum 7 years of experience with engineering design software and simulation tools
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Expert-level troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex mechanical equipment
- Ability to perform complex engineering calculations and analyses
- Strong leadership skills with ability to mentor technical staff
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present technical information to various audiences
- Strong analytical thinking with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to develop long-term strategic plans for utility infrastructure
