Position Title: Equipment Mechanic - Parks & Sports Facilities

The purpose of this position is to perform skilled tasks in the repair and preventative maintenance of a variety of tools and mechanical park equipment at multiple sports facilities locations. This is accomplished by inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing turf and grounds equipment, vehicles and tractors, and ordering and monitoring parts. Other duties may include completing related tasks, as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:



  • Proficiency in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing park equipment, including mowers, golf carts and other turf maintenance machinery.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime.
  • An understanding of gasoline and diesel-powered engines, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair both.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with other staff and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  • Experience with reel and bed knife grinding, including relief grinding.
  • The capability to set up and manage the reel grinding schedule for multiple locations.
  • The ability to set up and maintain cutting units to maintain quality of cut.
  • Prior experience with asset management software, such as Toro Myturf, to document equipment repairs and to keep up-to-date maintenance records.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:



  • High School Diploma or equivalency


Experience:



  • 2-4 years of experience required in the same or a similar previous position. This work requires advanced technical skills, specialized knowledge and extensive experience in approaches and systems


Physical Demands:



  • Requires heavy physical exertion and effort. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 25 - 50 pounds


Licenses and Certifications:



  • Valid Arizona Class "D" Driver's License is required upon hire.
  • Two (2) Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Certifications in any discipline within one year of hire.
  • A Valid Arizona Class "A" Commercial Driver's License with HAZMAT and Tanker Endorsement may be required within 12 months of hire
