Main Duties & Responsibilities
Summary:
Tool & Die Maker duties will
require Manufacturing of aerospace assemblies and tooling, build / repair
aerospace jigs, fixtures, templates, and related tooling used in manufacturing
aircraft parts and assemblies.
Ability to build from blueprints, sketches, and specifications, using CNC or
Manual Machines, hand tools, power tools, and equipment: Review engineering
information, tool design drawings, fabrication orders and other specifications
to determine methods and sequence of which to fabricate tools. Will work
closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Supervisors, and Leads,
ensuring Production is able to keep up with schedule.
The
candidate will be required to:
Read and interpret technical
drawings and blueprints to understand tool specifications.
Set up and operate a variety of
machine tools such as CNC or Manual Machines, and grinders to fabricate
and repair parts of tools, jigs and fixtures.
Basic programing (Mastercam)
Knowledge.
Verify dimensions, alignments,
and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications using
measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Works as an active team member
by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team
activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of the
department. Uses interpersonal skills as well as good written and verbal
communications. Assists other department members as required.
Works from specifications from
blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions or works from verbal orders,
and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be
used to fabricate parts.
Fit and assemble parts to make,
repair, or modify jigs, gauges, and tools using machine tools and hand
tools.
Work on projects as assigned by
Tooling Coordinator or Lead.
Responsible for requesting
material or any other needed items to finish assigned projects.
Follow Processes and Tooling
Standards which have been established.
Will calculate the unspecified
dimensions along with laying out designs using various materials
Maintain a clean and organized
work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
Collaborate effectively with
colleagues and departments to achieve production goals and resolve issues
efficiently.
Ensure effective communication
with supervisors/ Leaders and peers regarding project status, challenges,
and opportunities for improvement.
Requires substantial initiative
in fabricating all tool and die related items due to broad scope of
tooling tasks. Makes suggestions for improving tooling for machines,
equipment, etc. Uses considerable ingenuity in planning, layout and
devising proper fabrications or repair of both hard and soft tools.
Good housekeeping, knowledge of
good machine safety, as well as compliance with Company Safety Rules is
required. Safety of fellow workers is impacted by own safe machine
practices or tooling fabrication methods and results.
Capable of lifting up to 50
pounds and standing for long periods of time

The pay range for this position is from $29.00 to $50.00 (hourly).
Skills
and competencies:
Minimum of 5 years' experience
as a tool maker/ Jig & fixture builder in the Aerospace industry.
Candidate
must have 3 years of experience working with Manual/CNC lathe and milling
machines.
Experience
fabricating tools and detail parts.
Knowledge of geometric
tolerances.
Ability to use precision
measuring instruments for accurate fabrication.
Basic experience with SolidWorks.
Basic experience with Mastercam.
Able to read and understand
blueprints.
Knowledge of fabricating
techniques and working with various materials.
Good math, verbal and written
communication skills.
Excellent organization and
follow up skills.
Must understand deadlines and
how they impact the overall business.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
