PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Lead Buyer is responsible for procuring a diverse range of materials and equipment on a competitive basis to meet the requirements of projects and company operations. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring supply chain efficiency, mitigating procurement risks, and supporting Worley's ambition to drive sustainable transformation. The Lead Buyer acts as a lead procurement professional, leveraging technical expertise to navigate complex purchasing projects, which may include both engineered and non-engineered items.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project and corporate objectives, ensuring compliance with Worley's sustainability goals.
  • Lead procurement activities for complex purchasing projects, working closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and project teams to deliver optimal supply chain solutions.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, negotiate contracts, and establish long-term relationships that support business and sustainability objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate procurement risks by assessing market conditions, supply chain trends, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure timely procurement of materials and equipment while maintaining quality, budget, and delivery requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to procurement teams, enhancing collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the organization.
  • Maintain strong communication with project teams, suppliers, and leadership to ensure alignment on procurement priorities and objectives.
  • Utilize procurement systems, processes, and tools effectively, troubleshooting issues and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiencies and contribute to sustainability-related projects.
  • Ensure procurement activities adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and ethical procurement standards.


QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSET



  • A university degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in procurement, with a strong background in sourcing materials and equipment for engineering, energy, chemicals, or resources industries.
  • Expertise in developing and executing procurement strategies for both engineered and non-engineered items.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to establish and maintain strategic supplier relationships.
  • Proficiency in assessing supply chain risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to guide project teams and influence key stakeholders.
  • Advanced understanding of procurement systems, tools, and processes, with the capability to provide support and troubleshooting guidance.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to prepare and present procurement proposals and reports to diverse audiences.
  • A commitment to supporting Worley's sustainability objectives by integrating environmentally responsible procurement practices into decision-making.
