Job Summary:

As an Outreach and Education Manager, you will play a vital role in our organization as a subject matter expert in Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) and PICS services. This role involves leading educational presentations and webinars for community partners, prospective service users, and their families. You will develop high-quality information and educational materials, provide advanced training that may offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and represent our organization at conferences and community events. Your leadership and collaboration with various stakeholders, including individuals with disabilities, older adults, their families and caregivers, community partners and other provider agencies, and internal PICS and LSS staff, will significantly impact lives by raising awareness of our services and fostering community collaboration, ensuring that individuals with disabilities and older adults receive the necessary support and resources.

This role requires some travel throughout Minnesota and occasional evening and weekend work hours to represent PICS at community events.

ESSENTIAL AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Lead and facilitate educational presentations and webinars, demonstrating expert knowledge in HCBS to educate community partners and prospective service users about HCBS and PICS services.
  • Design and implement webinars and training sessions for participants, representatives, and workers, focusing on PICS resources and systems, such as the Representative Toolkit, EVV, PICS Portal, etc.
  • Represent PICS at conferences and community events to educate and raise awareness about HCBS, self-direction and PICS services through expert engagement.
  • Attend webinars and conferences to stay informed on relevant topics and programs related to disability, older adults, and HCBS.
  • Work with PICS Outreach and Engagement Manager to identify opportunities for improving and enhancing services.
  • Build relationships with community partners and lead agencies to expand our reach.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and families, utilizing insights to understand their needs and priorities and provide proactive, tailored support.
  • Oversee the management of the PICS Community Resource Guide, connecting supported participants and families with essential resources to navigate available services.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide support, facilitate process improvements, provide appropriate training, create and refine educational resources and content such as toolkits, guides, and presentation materials for participants, families, and community partners.
  • Assist in creating social media, blog, and resource content, and identify participants or families to spotlight that reflect our mission as needed.
  • Lead special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating initiative and independent judgment.



Qualifications and Requirements:



  • A bachelor's degree in social work, human services, education, or a related field or 3-5 years of experience working with Home and Community-Based Services, with a focus on self-directed services and Individualized Home Supports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, community partners, program leaders, and co-workers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking proficiency, capable of delivering compelling presentations to audiences of varying sizes, both in person and virtually.
  • Proficiency in creating high-quality educational materials, including webinars, presentations, toolkits, and guides for community partners, participants, their families, and caregivers.
  • Strong advocacy skills, committed to representing the organization and its mission within the community.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of resources and support available for clients, with excellent research abilities to identify additional resources.
  • A deep commitment to the organization's mission and values, with a passion for improving the lives of its participants and their families.
  • Experience working collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders, recognizing and valuing the importance of diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of pertinent software utilized by LSS preferred, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to pass a DHS NetStudy background check.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout Minnesota for outreach, conferences, and events as required. Estimated travel time is up to 20%.
  • This role will require occasional evening and weekend work hours to attend outreach events on behalf of PICS.
