Job Description:
Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented payroll analyst to assist with processing bi-weekly payroll for employees across the U.S. and Canada, maintain accurate payroll data, support timesheet processing, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure efficient and compliant payroll operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, and providing critical support to both the accounting and human resources teams while reporting to finance and accounting.
Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with the bi-weekly payroll process for over 1,100 employees across the U.S. and Canada using ADP Workforce Now Providing support to the timesheet team by processing timesheets for all employees on a rotational basis; this includes ensuring staff are following company policies related to charging time and using paid time off Assisting with updating and maintaining the employee data in the accounting system, Deltek Vantagepoint, such as new hire information, terminations, and base hour changes Filing and processing garnishments Assisting with quarterly and annual tax filings, including reconciling payroll tax reports Assisting with tax compliance and performing tax corrections as needed using ADP WFN Communicating with the Human Resources subunit regarding benefits and personnel-related items Preparing journal entry transactions to record the impact of payroll processing on the general ledger Processing and maintaining various taxable and non-taxable reimbursements Supporting the development and maintenance of procedural documentation Resolving escalated payroll issues and answering related questions Completing certified payroll reporting when required by external clients in partnership with the project's manager Preparing payroll-related reports and statements as needed Auditing the data flow between Workday and ADP using Data Bridge
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of related experience or relevant professional certification in payroll Strong knowledge of payroll procedures and related state, provincial, and federal laws and regulations Working knowledge of at least one payroll platform Intermediate Microsoft Office skills and experience with advanced Excel functions, such as Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization Effective task management and self-initiative with a high attention to detail Excellent organizational skills High level of integrity and ethical conduct with a rock-solid commitment to handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately Ability to adapt to changing payroll regulations and assist with the implementation of necessary updates Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant professional certification in payroll (FPC or CPP) Experience with the payroll software ADP Workforce Now Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint Demonstrated understanding of multi-location payroll regulations and tax laws Experience with processing payroll for multiple jurisdictions in the U.S. and Canada Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices related to payroll
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office. Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $63,000-73,000/year. This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.
