Independent of supervision, in a hospital setting, as a significant part of daily duties provide moment to moment monitoring and reassessment of emergent, critically ill, or sedated patients. Provide paraveterinary technical and nursing support. Perform, instruct, and provide technical support for a variety of endoscopic and diagnostic procedures. Provide technical support for a variety of treatments, diagnostic procedures, and advanced procedures. Provide instruction to students, clinicians and other staff in proper techniques for restraint and handling of patients, nursing care, administering treatments and obtaining a variety of diagnostic samples. Provide equipment and facility stocking, cleaning, and maintenance.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Must obtain a Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 3 months of date of hire.
- No minimum education required.
- Experience calculating and administering dosages of medications, parenteral fluids and diets to small animal patients.
- Experience working as an animal health technician in a small animal clinical setting, including safe patient handling and restraint for diagnostic procedures, sample collection, transport, as well as experience in obtaining biological samples.
- Experience maintaining general anesthesia in small animal patients, support, and monitoring equipment, assessing patient status and independently responding to changes.
- Experience interviewing clients to obtain patient medical histories to record findings in the medical record and provide client education.
- Skill to independently provide intense moment to moment monitoring and reassessment of emergent, critically ill, or anesthetized patients, including knowledge of normal anatomy and physiology, and normal vital parameters of canines and felines.
- Interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of people including clients, clinicians, students, and staff in a professional, positive, and collegial manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) License
- Experience with common canine and feline endoscopic procedures, patient preparation, supplies and equipment.
- Experience with common endoscopic equipment and instrumentation handling, operation, function, troubleshooting, cleaning and maintenance.
