We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a VP Data Strategy and Innovation on our Information Technology team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

This position is responsible for establishing the vision, strategic priorities and
execution of a comprehensive data strategy and analytics initiatives across the
organization, ensuring data is effectively managed, governed, and leveraged to
inform critical business decisions. This
role collaborates closely with various departments to align data initiatives
with overall business objectives and drive strategic value from data assets. The VP will drive innovative data solutions
that support business growth, enhance operational efficiency, and foster a
data-driven culture across the enterprise. Consults and collaborates on enterprise level
data-related initiatives including service deployment, training, technology
development, and application of analytics across AMA business units. This role will also play a critical role to identify and champion planning and
advancement for innovative data technologies and solutions, such as artificial
intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), predictive analysis, etc. to enhance
the organization's data capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Strategy and Execution

  • Lead the creation and execution of the enterprise-wide data strategy, including a contemporary approach to storing and managing enterprise data, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and goals.
  • Drive the vision and roadmap for leveraging data to create value and drive digital transformation across the organization.
  • Establish and/or maintain the Enterprise Data Office frameworks and policies to ensure data governance, integrity, privacy, security, and compliance.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of scalable and secure data architecture that supports business intelligence, analytics, and advanced data science initiatives.
  • Drive modernization efforts to ensure data infrastructure is agile and capable of meeting evolving business demands.
  • Champion data quality initiatives to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of data used across the organization.
  • Promote the use of data visualizations, statistical modeling and advanced analytics to generate actionable insights that drive business performance and strategic decisions.
  • Partner closely with Enterprise Architecture on activities related to data strategy, design, architecture and solutioning.

Business Partnering and Matrixed Relationships

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with leaders of federated IT units and collaborate to ensure alignment of data strategy with localized initiatives and ensure adherence to enterprise data and architecture principles/policies.
  • Work with BU IT teams to integrate data governance, data management practices, and technological solutions across federated teams, ensuring a unified approach to data utilization.
  • Influence and guide the federated IT teams in the development and execution of data-related initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader enterprise goals and consistency with data governance standards.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, leveraging expertise from federated IT units to deliver integrated, enterprise-wide data solutions.
  • Partner with business units to identify key data opportunities, ensuring data is used to solve complex business challenges.
  • Key contributor to operational excellence and service excellence initiatives in IT.

Innovation

  • Identify, collaborate, and champion innovative data technologies and solutions, such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), predictive analysis, big data, and cloud computing, to enhance the organization's data capabilities.
  • Stay ahead of trends in the data space, bringing forward-thinking approaches to leverage emerging technologies for competitive advantage.
  • Act as a thought leader within the organization, educating and influencing senior leadership on the importance of data and analytics in decision-making.
  • Executive Level Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior leadership on stakeholder engagement activities, key metrics, and potential risks or opportunities.

Staff Management

  • Lead, mentor and provide management oversight for professional staff.
  • Responsible for setting objectives, evaluating performance, and developing staff.
  • Identify opportunities for advancing staff skills and expertise.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. BS or BA degree required, graduate degree a plus.
  2. 15+ years of experience in business, analytics, statistics or IT management roles; 5+ years of data design and/or analytics preferred.
  3. Minimum 7+ years of experience in people management; proven ability to grow and mentor talent.
  4. Significant experience in data design and product development, including regulated data such as PII and PHI data, and with analytical products.
  5. Ability to assess, design, and execute data strategies that align with business objectives.
  6. Experience leading technical teams in complex, multi-disciplinary environments, including, strong skills in communication and relationship management, and a demonstrated ability to mentor and lead cross-functional teams on complex data/analytic projects.
  7. Familiarity with industry best practices in modern data platforms and applying advanced analytical techniques (e.g. predictive modeling, machine learning, AI) to address enterprise challenges.
  8. Past experience as a technical expert in engineering, data analytics, business analysis, BI, etc prior to leadership/management.
  9. Proven experience in stakeholder management, relationship building, and communication strategy development.
  10. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
  11. Strategic thinking and analytical skills to identify key stakeholder priorities and develop effective engagement plans.
  12. Proven ability to manage complex projects and navigate challenging situations.
  13. Deep understanding of the industry landscape, regulatory environment, and key stakeholder dynamics.
  14. Ability to facilitate and drive groups to consensus in a matrixed environment.
  15. Strong quantitative and analytical skills aligned with a demonstrated ability to work with ambiguous evidence and adapt effectively to changing circumstances.
  16. Ability to express complex technical concepts persuasively, both verbally and in writing, to technical and non-technical groups; targets communication methods to the intended audience.
  17. Proven leader who is highly skilled in developing and operationalizing strategic plans and achieving buy-in from key stakeholders.
  18. Experience integrating complex, cross-corporate processes, projects, and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards a plus.

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $234,6000 - $300,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
