Overview:
The Senior Clinical Research Coordinator will primarily oversee the Spaulding-Harvard Traumatic Brain Injury Model System (SH-TBIMS), one of 16 centers nationally funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) to conduct longitudinal research in individuals with moderate to severe TBI (more information). The TBI Model System Program is the largest and longest-running longitudinal TBI study in the world, including more than 18,000 participants and over 70,000 follow-up visits collected over the past 30 years. In addition to contributing to the National Database, SH-TBIMS leads both single-site and multi-site research initiatives. The Spaulding Neurorehabilitation Lab (SNL) also co-leads the Outcomes Core for Transforming Research and Clinical Knowledge in Traumatic Brain Injury (TRACK-TBI) (learn more), the nation's largest prospective TBI study. Supported by the Department of Defense (DoD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Football League (NFL), philanthropic organizations, and private biopharma companies, TRACK-TBI spans 28 sites and aims to define TBI "phenotypes" through clinical, neuroimaging, and biomarker data. This work is expected to accelerate the development of more effective, targeted TBI treatments. In addition to contributing to SH-TBIMS and TRACK-TBI activities, the Senior CRC will have the opportunity to support a NIDILRR-funded project focused on improving provider adherence to evidence-based guidelines by identifying barriers to adoption, testing targeted knowledge translation strategies, and partnering with clinicians, health systems, and community organizations to drive sustainable practice change for people with severe acquired brain injury.
