Overview

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
  • Comply with all applicable safety- and health-related rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Work safely themselves and help their teammates work safely.
  • Assist supervisors and managers in identifying and mitigating potentially hazardous conditions.
  • verification of correct performance of work activity Performs inspection and oversight/verification activities prescribed by requirements and work authorizing documents. These activities are typically associated with tasks that require independent.
  • The inspector's tasks may include, but are not limited to, verification of: Work performance
    • Compliance to Documented Requirements
    • Acceptance of Completed Tasks
    • Dimensions
  • Inspector requirements are controlled by MIPs on WAD 'Work Authorization Documents'.
  • There are typically 4 MIP types that are used for Quality Surveillance action.
  • Inspection for MAWP 'Maximum Allowable Working Pressure 'Witness Hydrostatic Pressure Testing of Tubing
  • Surveillance for maintaining a specific Clean Level.
  • Inspection for System Leaks called 'Leak checks'
  • Witness Proof loading of GSE and other non LDE items
  • All other duties as assigned


Qualifications

REQUISITE SKILLS:

  • Experience with government facilities programs desirable but not necessary
  • Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with rocket propulsion desirable but not necessary - willing to learn.
  • The candidate shall have a good command of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint).
  • A working knowledge of the English language is required.
  • The candidate shall be able to operate in a team environment, and shall have good interpersonal, reporting and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Troubleshooting, identifying, and resolving mechanical problems, including RV, valves, piping pressures, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Must have hands on knowledge of high pressure and cryogenic systems.
  • 5+ years' experience performing operational support as an Engineering Associate or Technician at NASASSC Test Complex or equivalent.
  • Possess Advanced technical knowledge with:
  • Condensable Fluids
  • Gaseous Sample Cylinders
  • Millipore Filter Sampling
  • Cleanliness requirements in NASA RPT-STD-8070-0001 and/or other Aerospace standards
  • SSC Calibration requirements of Test Ops components and instruments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The candidate shall be a US Citizen.
  • The candidate must be able to complete a background check for test complex and facility access.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, plus five or more years of direct progressive related experience and demonstrated ability.
  • Position requires comprehensive knowledge of technical expertise gained through work experience in field of specialty.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with state-of-the-art technology.
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid driver's license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift minimum of 30 pound load up from the ground frequently
  • Walk six hours per day
  • Bend and stoop six hours per day
  • Work overhead with minimum 20 pound load
  • Push and pull frequently throughout the day
  • Walk up/down stairs frequently
  • Stand seven hours per day
  • Climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Wear PPE gear six hours continuously (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves)
  • Tolerate extreme cold/heat for three hours continuously.
