Are you ready to make your mark? The Quality Control Inspector III reports to the manufacturing supervisor and are responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining a limited number of machine types in an industrial setting. The position works under a high level of supervision, limited troubleshooting, decision-making and problem solving. There is limited contact with external suppliers or customers. Applies basic knowledge of quality concepts, including normal distributions and creating simple charts to track and help drive quality improvements. Thorough understanding of multiple customer requirements and applying to Woodward systems and processes. Drives to root cause and corrective action on products through a complete understanding of Woodward products and processes. Reviews and approves finished product and associated data prior to shipment to the customer. This includes reviewing test data, preparing certificates of conformance and providing any basic documentation required by the customer contract. Participates in audit activities in a supporting role. Audits may include: process audits, system surveys, physical configuration audits, functional configuration audits and product audits. Retrieves traceability and configuration data in support of a product or customer audit/investigation. Performs dimensional inspection using simple inspection and hand tools. Coordinates routine customer source inspections. Trains other quality inspectors in required in-process and customer inspections, including delegated customer source inspection activities. Meets with customer representatives to facilitate customer acceptance of deliverable product and prepares associated documentation package for the customer. Performs customer product acceptance tasks as a customer designated quality representative.

Supports other projects as required by the department supervisor or manager. Performs other related duties as required to assist in the efficient operation of the department. Review and approval of quality and process documentation, as required

Ability to operate basic inspection equipment (e.g., microscope, functional gauges, plug gage, and micrometer). Complete open set-ups independently. The ability to use computer and web-based systems to input, access, modify, or output information. The ability to use sound judgment when interacting with fellow employees, customers and suppliers. Knowledge of how quality impacts the success of the organization including costs to customers, costs of recalls and potential costs due to negative impacts on a company's reputation. This includes taking the necessary steps to ensure quality on a consistent basis and striving for improvement. The ability to see details (e.g., letters, numbers, codes, color, symbols, marks, labels, signs) clearly to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner. Good leadership skills; ability to delegate and follow up to ensure successful completion of assigned work. Ability to effectively teach troubleshooting skills to less experienced technicians.
