Position Summary


The Senior Revenue Specialist will play a critical role in supporting and optimizing the financial processes of the Regional Section. This position involves collaborating closely with the Revenue Manager to oversee WIP, AR, and billings, ensuring compliance with matter arrangements and firm policies. The Senior Revenue Specialist will be responsible for monitoring inventory levels, billing rates, and fee structures for new matters, as well as generating essential financial reports for various stakeholders. This role requires proficiency in data manipulation using Excel and the creation of professional presentations in PowerPoint.

The Senior Revenue Specialist will also be tasked with monitoring aged receivables, contacting clients regarding past-due invoices, and developing strategies to improve collections. Additionally, the position includes supporting internal and external audits, maintaining process documentation, and handling various ad hoc requests and projects as assigned by management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of business operations, financial data utilization, and excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with clients and internal teams.


Duties and Accountabilities1



  • Collaborate with the Revenue Manager to oversee WIP, AR, and billings for the Regional Section, ensuring balances are managed per matter arrangements and firm policy
  • Assist in monitoring and enforcing timely and accurate entries in timekeeper diaries to facilitate prompt billing
  • Work with the Revenue Manager to monitor inventory levels and manage exposure on fixed/capped fee matters
  • Ensure proper billing rates and fee structures for new matters in collaboration with the Financial Compliance group
  • Generate reports for clients, partners, inventory teams, firm management, and other internal parties to track WIP, AR, billings, and other key metrics, including client and matter profitability
  • Review rate exceptions and discounts for all clients and matters within the Regional Section, in consultation with the Pricing team and Inventory Partners
  • Manipulate data in Excel to assist with pricing, profitability analysis, and various financial requests from the Finance Director or Partners
  • Create presentations using PowerPoint with a comprehensive understanding of business operations and financial data utilization
  • Monitor and analyze aged receivables, including amounts held in suspense or unallocated
  • Regularly contact clients via email, mail, and phone to inform them of due balances and follow up on past-due invoice
  • Work with clients to establish commitment dates and payment plans.
  • Collaborate with partners and inventory teams to research and resolve billing disputes, including variances between billed and paid amounts
  • Develop strategies with partners and revenue teams to improve collection turnaround times
  • Generate reports to track collections against targets for partners, inventory teams, and firm management
  • Address and respond to inquiries from internal and external parties regarding collections and credit activities
  • Assist with completing vendor onboarding forms
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Maintain comprehensive process documentation
  • Handle other ad hoc requests and projects as assigned by management


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as finance or accounting is preferred
  • At least five (5) years of experience in billing or revenue management with a proven track record of success
  • Knowledge of legal billing processes, including e-billing systems, billing software and industry best practices
  • Familiarity with various billing guidelines and regulation relevant to the legal industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and other stakeholders effectively
  • Strong communication skills, able to interact at all levels
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to organize workflow and use time efficiently
  • Determination, self-motivation and interpersonal skills and resolve
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of 3E preferred


Location and Reporting



  • This role can be based in our New York or Houston office.
  • This role reports to the Revenue Manager - Americas.
