HOURLY REATE: $22.85

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned. Successfully performs work individually, as a member of a single craft, or a multi-craft crew.
  • Complies with all craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
  • Responsible for doing some of his/her own planning.
  • Tests equipment as applicable
  • Proper care and safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Works from project specifications and applicable working drawings and blueprints.
  • Responsible for being compliant with project standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Effectively take direction from and communicate with other shift personnel to continue efficient workflow.
  • Incumbent performs similar work in all areas of the Yard as the need arises.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Communicates effectively, work independently or in a group.
  • Ability to do basic math, i.e. add, subtract, divide and multiply.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of AC and DC electrical theory.
  • Power generation, control and distribution.
  • Use of test equipment.
  • Drawing, reading and layout.
  • Electric motors and controls.
  • Grounding and bonding.
  • Cable - identification, size requirements and ampacity limits or where to find the information.
  • Fabrication and installation of multiple cable transits, conduit, and raceways.
  • Conduit bending.
  • Interior communications and alarms.
  • Ability to reason and find solutions.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2 years relevant work experience.
  • Proven skills: Work history and/or applicable education will be considered in lieu of work experience.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Complete on the job training as needed per project.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • The physical demands for this position require continual standing, walking and using fine motor skills for the operation of tools and machinery.
  • Ability to lift, carry 60 lbs. May require some lifting or assistance with heavy equipment.
  • Occasionally requires twisting, turning, bending, climbing, and walking over uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
  • Work mostly indoors in areas possibly exposed to external weather conditions.
  • Uses safety equipment.
  • Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision to judge distance/ spatial relationships)
  • Vision Near Acuity (clarity of vision at 20 inches or less)


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work is performed inside a shop in which machines are continually running generating varying degrees of noise.
  • Work may involve use of chemicals, coolants, greases, solvents, petroleum and vapors and fumes.
  • Proper PPE will be provided as necessary.
