Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Plans, designs, develops, modifies and evaluates power generation and distribution, information processing hardware and/or electrical components, mechanisms, materials, circuitry, equipment or processes.

Qualifications

REQUISITE SKILLS:

  • Experience with government facilities programs desirable but not necessary.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with rocket propulsion desirable but not necessary - willing to learn.
  • The candidate shall have a good command of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint).
  • A working knowledge of the English language is required.
  • The candidate shall be able to operate in a team environment, and shall have good interpersonal, reporting and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Testing using test equipment to measure voltage, current, pressures and flow rates to ensure proper system function.
  • Following Safety Regulations adhering to safety standards and regulations, including OSHA and other local codes.
  • Communicating with Clients/Customers explaining mechanical issues to customers, outlining repair solutions, and recommending preventative measures.
  • Reading Schematics and Piping & Instrumentation diagrams, interpreting technical diagrams to understand system layouts and electrical configurations.
  • Write work authorizing documents to install, repair/replace, troubleshoot and maintain electrical equipment, including pumps, motors, instrumentation, controls hardware, data acquisition hardware and ancillary systems, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Assists in the development of electrical designs for current and conceptualized hardware, components, and systems.
  • Assists in the creation of working prototype(s) for beta testing and customer demonstration. Prepares supporting documentation. Verifies that prototype(s) meets appropriate product specifications.
  • Designs, plans, and oversees the installation and maintenance of electric or electronic equipment, components, and circuits for new and existing products.
  • Defines requirements and creates schematics for hardware system architecture.
  • Evaluates performance, integrates hardware units and interconnection of units.
  • Selects appropriate components based upon reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Conducts validation, verification, and qualification testing.
  • Conducts error testing of systems and circuit designs.
  • Provides product support as appropriate by isolating faults and resolving design issues.
  • Ensures electrical designs comply with product specifications.
  • Verifies designs are implemented with accurate consideration for power management, systems interfaces, etc.
  • Ensures designs incorporate approval agencies and electrical safety standards.
  • Participates in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Reviews vendor capability to support product development and recommends product specifications and component selection.
  • Monitors the activities of subcontracted technical services.
  • Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC's, programming, troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Wonderware experience with working knowledge of ladder logic style programming is needed to control and monitor large diesel engine water pumps, generators, compressors, air dryers, pressure vessels and the associated instrumentation for each etc.
  • Database experience with DDMS and Maximo is preferred.
  • Will be responsible for all test systems maintenance, repair, and upgrades. This includes oral warning systems, test warning systems, lighting, fire and gas detect systems, low voltage systems and 480 VAC 3 phase pumps.
  • Must be willing to be available after hours or weekends on an as needed basis.
  • Must have a working knowledge of controls engineering for valve movements and instrumentation using PLC's.
  • Will be required to manage multiple activities and will be responsible for writing the preventative and corrective maintenance work orders and directing the electrical techs to perform the work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronic engineering or related field preferred.
  • Zero or more years of experience in electrical or electronic engineering or product design and development.
  • Experience working with electrical or electronic design principles and practices.
  • Experience working with drawing standards including tolerances and detailed drawings.
