About the Job

WORKING SCHEDULE: 7 hours per week or up to 14 hours per week (or .175 FTE)
POSITION TYPE: Remote.
ESTIMATED END DATE: 4-6 months with the possibility of an extension if funding and project deliverables allow

REPORTS TO: SoLaHmo/CUHCC Community-Based Research Facilitator

SUMMARY: The SoLaHmo Researcher: Temp Casual, participates on one or more SoLaHmo community-academic research teams as a community researcher and community co-investigator or as community co-principal investigator, where appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Partnership Development: (20%)

  • Participates as an integral member of the community-academic-institutional team
  • Contributes to building the community-academic-institutional partnership, adhering to the principles of community based participatory research (CBPR)

Training Content Development: (35%)

  • Contributes Community Health Worker (CHW)/Community Researcher/cultural and community expertise to the development and implementation of a CHW culturally resonant research projects, including study design, research tools, consent, recruitment, enrollment, analysis, and interpretation of research finding

Qualitative Research Activities: (35%)

  • Co-develops CHW focus group participant recruitment strategy, enrollment, and data collection with study participants
  • Completes and maintains current CITI human subjects research training appropriate for the study, HIIPA training and other trainings as needed
  • Translates research documents from English to primary language of community, and Transcribes/Translates qualitative data from primary language of community to English as needed
  • Contributes to dissemination, including writing journal articles; planning and implementation of community dissemination efforts; and planning next steps
  • Attends regular research team meetings

Additional Activities as Needed: (10%)

  • Participate in providing research training of CHWs, including experiential learning and mentorship.

DEGREE OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

  • Works independently and inter-dependently as a team within the scope of the job description/job responsibilities
  • Consults with SoLaHmo Executive Committee/leadership, relevant community-academic research team, and study community and academic Co-Principal Investigators as needed.
  • Reports to the SoLaHmo/CUHCC Director of Community-Based Research.

  • Understand and comply with universal precautions and right to know
  • Understand and comply with hazardous waste precautions/handling as appropriate

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to juggle multiple demands
  • Occasional evening and weekend work
  • This position will be remote.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Minnesota State CHW licensure
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience conducting community-based research
  • English language proficiency required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Has strong interest in community health and health equity
  • Values cultural and community strengths and equity between communities
  • Is interested in working in a multi-cultural and interdisciplinary team setting
  • Is interested in learning to do research
  • Language proficiency in primary language of community of identity strongly preferred (list the primary language of community in parenthesis, such as Somali, Spanish, Hmong,
  • Vietnamese, Nepali, Karen, Amharic or Oromo.)
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $75 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
