SYSTEMS ENGINEER (MID LEVEL)

Job Overview:

The Systems Engineer (Mid Level) supports the Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS) Program through the development, integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex systems. This role is responsible for ensuring system functionality, reliability, and performance across mission-critical domains. The Systems Engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to assess technical needs and provide scalable, sustainable engineering solutions.

Support Hours: Applicant shall be available during core work hours as established the Government customer.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Support the design, integration, and implementation of TARS systems architecture and components.
• Conduct systems-level analyses and participate in requirements gathering, definition, and traceability.
• Assist in the configuration, testing, and validation of software and hardware systems.
• Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate resolution efforts with technical teams and vendors.
• Maintain technical documentation including interface control documents, system diagrams, and configuration records.
• Provide engineering input for lifecycle management, upgrades, and system sustainment planning.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, logistics, and operations functions to optimize system effectiveness.

Competencies:

• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.
• Experience with hardware/software integration and systems troubleshooting.
• Ability to interpret and develop technical documentation and diagrams.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering tools and platforms.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Minimum Requirements/Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
• 3-5 years of relevant systems engineering experience in a government or defense-related environment.
• Familiarity with DoD or DHS technical environments, system lifecycle processes, and configuration management.
• Experience with simulation systems, radar systems, or ISR platforms preferred.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Security Requirement:

• Favorably adjudicated CBP Background Investigation (BI) and a Secret Security Clearance required.

Travel Required: 10-15%

Physical Demands/Requirements: Work is performed in an office environment. Mostly sedentary work. Repetitive motion. Substantial movement (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen; extensive reading.
