The Area Outside Sales Manager is a working manager responsible for acting as a bridge between the Director- Outside Sales and the territories serving as another point of accountability in the area. As the Area Outside Sales Manager, you are ultimately responsible for the design and execution of the sales strategy for your area.

Your role has the purpose of 1) acting as an extension of and leverage for the Director- Outside Sales objectives and directives, 2) leading onsite sales efforts with key and target customers (where applicable), and 3) tracking and improving the performance of Territory Managers (where applicable).

Some of the exciting things you will do in this role...

  • Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales and distribution strategy for the assigned area, with a focus on revenue growth and market expansion by working with the Territory Managers and Outside Sales Reps in the Area (where applicable). Coordinating efforts with Area Inside Sales Manager as well.
  • Team Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of Outside Sales, Territory Managers and technical experts within the area, providing guidance, coaching, and support to achieve sales targets.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, understanding their valve requirements and providing customized solutions.
  • Product Knowledge: Stay up to date with valve products, technologies, and industry trends, ensuring a deep understanding of product features, benefits, and applications.
  • Inventory Management: Review inventory levels with counterparts to ensure product availability, minimize stockouts, and optimize inventory turnover.
  • Sales Forecasting: Develop accurate sales forecasts, budgets, and goals for the area and monitor progress toward achieving them.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to sales representatives and customers, offering expertise on valve applications and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify potential clients, industries, and emerging opportunities within the area.
  • Reporting: Maintain detailed records of sales activities, track performance metrics, and prepare regular reports for senior management.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies in sales and distribution activities.

A must...

  • 2-4 years Outside sales leadership experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is a frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 25% of the time.
