Main Duties & Responsibilities
Job Summary:
Normal 3rd shift hours are 8 PM - 4 AM. Any daily
OT would change it to 6 PM start time for 10-hour days and 4 PM start time for
12-hour days.
Job Summary: Manages all hourly third shift Production and
Maintenance employees. Responsible for
the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in
accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing,
hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work;
appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints
and resolving problems. Coordinates the manufacturing schedule and production
activities for the 3rd shift production. Service to achieve budgeted
productivity, shipping and fill rate goals, by performing the following duties:
Job Duties and
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Reviews general status of production schedules to ensure that schedules are being met, and if necessary, assigns or adjusts schedules and/or personnel to balance and expedite work through production areas.
- Assures that the desired product quality levels are achieved through proper operator training with operation and inspection techniques, use of tools and overall job responsibilities.
- Recommends methods and procedures to control and improve product quality.
- Will make recommendations related to quality, efficiency, machine utilization, scrap, budget status, etc.
- Takes corrective action when necessary to improve the overall performance of his/her production area(s).
- Coordinates with Production Superintendent and PIC team to set priorities for specific customer orders.
- Revises schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.
- Coordinate with 1st shift Maintenance Supervisor to verify 3rd shift maintenance is focused on proper task.
- Coordinate with 1st shift Maintenance Supervisor and Superintendent to schedule necessary machine down time for preventative maintenance.
- Utilize MaintainX for Maintenance needs and communication.
- Reviews and analyzes production and operational reports and statistics to evaluate conformity with product standards, utilization of human resources, materials and equipment.
- Confers with department supervisors to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received from methods or engineering departments.
- Compiles reports concerning progress of work and downtime due to failures of machines and equipment to apprise production planning personnel of production delays.
-Maintains inventory of materials and parts needed to complete production.
- Expedites production of spare parts and establishes delivery dates for spare parts orders.
- Monitors and maintains attendance records.
- Confers with appropriate personnel on problems or situations that develop regarding quality, efficiency, machine utilization, order scheduling, safety, housekeeping, manpower, etc.
- Recommends the selection and termination of personnel in their assigned area.
- Will coordinate production activities with other functional areas to assure that the needs and problems of manufacturing are communicated and addressed.
- Consistently administers company policies and practices regarding attendance, performance, etc.
- Communicates with employees on a regular basis.
- Will be expected to participate in activities such as training and safety programs in order to enhance the overall effectiveness of the work area(s) involved.
Qualifications
Education and
Work Experience: Bachelor's degree
(B.A.) from four-year college or university; or 3 to 5 years related experience
and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Background in
manufacturing technology and line operating experience. Practical work
experience in supervision, quality and product reliability. Must have
interpersonal skills necessary to foster cooperation and to effectively
communicate with others.
Physical Requirements: This position
requires the mental ability to read and comprehend policies, procedures,
instructions, etc., to write reports, to use logic and data to solve problems,
to assess needs, to communicate effectively, and varying degrees of
independence, judgment, and discretion. This position requires the physical
ability to be mobile in an office and industrial environment, to finger and
