Job Description

At PSE, you will be part of a rapidly growing modern energy team that aids in the delivery of safe, reliable, clean energy to our customers.

The Property Accounting team is responsible for managing all the complex assets that deliver reliable electricity and gas to our customers' homes. The successful candidate for this role will be someone looking to grow and develop their accounting career and will assist PSE in implementing best business practices while encouraging innovation and dedication to customer service and safety. The Sr. Accountant will be open-minded and willing to build insightful relationships throughout PSE.

This position reports directly to the Property Accounting Manager and works closely with PSE's Property Accounting team, Controller organization, and most business units.

We seek an individual who demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically, and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. This person will ensure that duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations, and they'll uphold the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Additionally, this individual will promote and support a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs complex accounting, analysis and/or billing functions.
  • Prepares, evaluates, and maintains data using complex financial analysis models.
  • Implements changes related to regulatory and GAAP compliance.
  • Prepares and reviews moderately complex to complex journal entries and reconciles accounts.
  • Participates in and identifies the need for maintenance of the general ledger and/or other systems and databases.
  • Prepares and reviews internal, external, and regulatory financial reports.
  • Responds to ad hoc requests received from management and other departments.
  • Leads or participates on special projects/research within the department and for management.
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls.
  • Provides training and guidance to less experienced staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 3+ years of directly relevant accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and technical application
  • Strong ability to effectively analyze and report on financial information
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Strong PC skills (including Excel, Word, Access)

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7+ years of accounting experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with team members and business partners.
  • Understanding of ERP system (SAP preferred) including sub-modules.
  • Experience with PowerPlan system or other Fixed Asset System.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting for fixed assets and capitalization.
  • Excellent Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with utility operations, FERC, and utility accounting.
  • Possession of high-level attention to detail, accuracy, and strong analytical skills.
  • Abilities using tools such as PowerBI or Alteryx.

The pay range for this position is$79,200.00-$131,700.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
