Pay Range

$93,090 - $136,656 Annually

$93,090 - $113,988 Annually for the H04.2 Level

$111,600 - $136,656 Annually for the H04.3 Level

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.


Job Description

We have an opening for a Superblock Training Specialist to assist in supporting the Strategic Deterrence (SD) Training Program in meeting regulatory requirements and operational demands. Using your operational and technical experience, you will conduct training needs analyses related to design, development, and implementation of courses in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts supporting high-risk environments. This position will support the Superblock Nuclear Facilities Training Program, within the Strategic Deterrence Directorate.

This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or moredays per week, after a probationary period. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization.

This position will be filled at eitherlevel based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

In this role, you will

  • Administer operational aspects of development, education, and training programs.
  • Conduct the phases of a systematic approach to training including job task analysis, course design, curriculum development and course implementation using established training templates.
  • Prepare training materials and evaluation metrics in accordance with LLNL and industry best practices.
  • Develop, review and evaluate course objectives; and develop course content in consultation with various stakeholders to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Validate task to training matrices to ensure training aligns with job descriptions, duty areas and functional areas for high hazard facilities.
  • Interpret regulations with subject matter experts and determine organizational training needs to ensure compliance with DOE, OSHA, RCRA, DOT and other applicable Federal codes & standards, as well as LLNL requirements.
  • Partner with stakeholders and management to ensure alignment between technical training program elements and organizational strategies and needs.
  • Facilitate or deliver technical training as required via online, OJT, classroom, or virtual means.
  • Facilitate operational drills and perform controller/evaluator drill functions.
  • Travel may occasionally be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the H04.3 level

  • Execute systematic approach to training including independent performance of gap analyses and creation of new training materials.
  • Support the various SD organizations as an innovative training resource through a variety of communication channels including the SD training helpdesk. Leads needs assessment activities.
  • Deliver specialized or technical classroom, on-the-job training.
  • Consults with subject matter experts on development needs and recommend training interventions for complex learning scenarios.
  • Coach others in effective web-based, classroom and on-the-job training practices and serve as a knowledge leader on the most current industry technology to support team goals.

Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship. Also, you must have the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Organization Development, Training and Development, Instructional Design Technologies, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience evaluating training needs, and designing, developing, and systematically implementing training solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience in applying learning, training, and development theories and training technologies through instruction and coaching, using multimedia and virtual means as well as classroom and OJT methods.
  • Experience using various computer software applications and multimedia tools for training and development with an emphasis in online training.
  • Demonstrated analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to evaluate, interpret, negotiate, recommend, and implement actions/solutions for moderately complex problems.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and to present and communicate technical information.
  • Experience working independently and in a team environment with a broad cross-section of people and organizations.

Additional qualifications at the H04.3 level

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of training industry principles, concepts, practices, standards, processes and systems.
  • Project management experience leading individual projects.
  • Experience working independently and in a team environment with a broad cross-section of people and organizations, managing complex projects, and meeting schedules.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience designing and developing training programs in a highly regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with DOE Nuclear Facility, ES&H, and RCRA requirements.
  • Experience designing and developing large scale interactive online training courses complete with video, audio, skill-based interaction and examination processes, 3D modeling, and other media elements.
  • Training development experience for off-normal or emergency response situations.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
