Job Title - Web Developer / Portal Manager, Senior

Job Summary: The Web Developer / Portal Manager, Senior will establish, maintain, and further develop a robust public and private portal system supporting client program. The candidate will ensure seamless management, accessibility, security, and sharing of research data and resources across the client's programs and with the broader research community, in alignment with stringent federal and NIH data standards.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develop, manage, and enhance a secure client program public/private portal.





  • Ensure portal interoperability with external NIH-supported data platforms (e.g., ImmPort, IEDB, CEIRR).





  • Build portal capabilities for:





  • Browsing, querying, and visualizing complex datasets.





  • Sharing and tracking research samples, reagents, vaccine candidates, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).





  • Public dissemination of research outputs, including publications and datasets.



  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, FISMA, FAIR data principles, and the Common Rule.



  • Implement scalable, flexible solutions for data management, including data collection, harmonization, quality control, analysis, visualization, and reporting.



  • Develop user-friendly data submission templates, automated upload processes, and quality validation tools.



  • Collaborate closely with client investigators, NIH staff, and external data centers to align portal and database standards.



  • Document portal system architecture, APIs, workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and change management processes.



  • Provide training and consultation for client investigators and data contributors on portal usage, data entry, and data retrieval best practices.



  • Generate and maintain dashboards, tracking tools, and reports related to vaccine candidate progress and data submission status.



  • Assist in the preparation of client-related publications and presentations by providing data outputs and analyses.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Web Development, or a related field.





  • 7+ years of progressive experience in web development, portal management, or data systems management, ideally in a scientific or research environment.





  • Experience in biomedical research, clinical trials data management, or life sciences data repositories.





  • Experience collaborating with government agencies, academic consortia, or major scientific programs.





  • Familiarity with data interoperability standards (HL7, CDISC).





  • Knowledge of cloud-based hosting solutions and data storage (AWS, Azure).





  • Experience with metadata standards and database curation.





  • Strong technical skills in:





  • Front-end and back-end web development (e.g., React, Angular, Node.js, .NET, Django).





  • Database design and management (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL Server).





  • API development and integration (REST, SOAP).





  • Data visualization tools (e.g., D3.js, Plotly, Tableau).





  • Secure system design and data protection best practices.





  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining secure, scalable public/private web portals.





  • Familiarity with data standards for biomedical research and public health (e.g., FAIR principles, ImmPort standards).





  • Working knowledge of federal security and privacy requirements (HIPAA, FISMA, Common Rule).





  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.





  • Ability to train users and create technical documentation and SOPs.



Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $110,300 to $140,600 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The target salary is $124,500 for this role. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
