Position Summary |
The University of Georgia Gwinnett Campus in Lawrenceville GA is seeking qualified candidates for a IT Systems Support Professional. This is a key IT Administrator position responsible for the system administration and support of servers and desktops in the classroom, computer lab, and office environments for the
UGA Gwinnett Campus. This includes managing departmental network access authorization and maintaining the security of these systems according to departmental,
UGA, and State Security Standards Policies and procedures, including maintaining documentation of IT policies and procedural development. This position will also be responsible for providing classroom technology support. This position reports directly to the IT Manager and provides support in researching and long-term planning of emerging technologies to improve the efficiency, security, and effectiveness of technology for the campus. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Windows, Servers, and Mac Operating Systems, Microsoft Active Directory, network address assignment, wired and wireless network technology, and troubleshooting.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with computer imaging platforms, software packaging, and network distribution of software such as Intune, Ivanti, Deep Freeze, etc.
- Knowledge of backup solutions and procedures, including data replication.
- Functional knowledge of AV systems and web conferencing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

- Designs, builds, and provisions classroom, computer lab, and workstation system images using designated imaging applications for the purpose of complete system(s) restoration and deployment.
- Maintain and manage active images, including updates to operating systems, hardware, and applications.
- Works with hardware/software vendors to diagnose and resolve issues with hardware and software used to manage classrooms and lab computers.
- Maintain security standards for equipment
- Develop and maintain campus desktop standards and policies.
- Ensure logs and documentation of systems, configurations, and processes are up-to-date. Implement and enforce security protocols to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks. Perform risk assessments to ensure the functionality of data processing activities and security measures.

- Perform daily operations of managing servers, including software updates and operating system patches.
- Administer active directory-based services and perform departmental network access authorization, including network address assignments.
- Design, configure, and deploy group policies to streamline administration for users and computers.
- Manage all aspects of data security for the domain.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.

- Diagnose and resolve issues pertaining to systems hardware, operating systems, application software, peripherals, and network devices used on campus.
- Documents accurately all support and remediation steps.
- Provides consultation, assistance, and mentoring when necessary.
- Support end-users in the use of classroom AV/Web Conferencing technology incorporated into the multimedia symposiums.
- Provide basic AV troubleshooting for connection of peripherals to classroom AV/Web Conferencing systems.
- Assist with maintaining and troubleshooting classroom technology.
- Respond to remote-site technical issues as required.
- Ensure compliance with information security policies and procedures during troubleshooting and support activities.

- Advise on security-related budget needs and investments to enhance the institution's cybersecurity posture.
