We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Group Manager on our Marketing & Membership Experience team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

The Group Manager of the Integrated Physician Practice Section (IPPS) is
responsible for the long-term success of the Section and contributing to the
AMA's work around integrated physician practice issues. The Group Manager works
in consultation with a Director to: (1) manage strategic planning and other
Section governance functions, (2) plan and execute Section events and
initiatives, (3) serve as a center of expertise and point of contact for
internal and external inquiries related to integrated physician practice issues,
and (4) manage relationships and pursue shared objectives with internal and
external partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Section Initiatives

  • Lead IPPS Governing Council through the development and implementation of strategic plans aligned with department and AMA goals.
  • Plan and execute IPPS Governing Council meetings, Annual/Interim meetings, educational webinars, and other Section events and initiatives.
  • Manage the IPPS policymaking process, contributing both process and content knowledge to the development and implementation of AMA policy on complex topics of relevance to integrated physicians.
  • Manage two-way communication between the AMA and Section members, and between Section leaders and their constituents.

Relationship Management and Development

  • Build, manage, and sustain professional relationships with elected/appointed Section leaders. Guide elected/appointed leaders and other staff through relevant AMA policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Build, manage, and sustain professional relationships with AMA partners. Identify opportunities for IPPS to contribute to AMA mission work and the AMA value proposition and contribute to or lead high-profile initiatives to achieve shared objectives.
  • Interact with the AMA Board of Trustees and senior management, representing the needs of IPPS and escalating concerns as appropriate.
  • Lead Section ad hoc project teams as assigned.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact within and outside the AMA for inquiries related to integrated physician issues.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline required. Master's degree in relevant discipline or specific knowledge of the integrated practice landscape preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of association management governance processes and best practices preferred.
  2. Minimum of seven years of experience in leading, influencing, and interacting with external stakeholders required; experience with managing physicians or other professionals required. Experience working with physician leaders of integrated practices preferred.
  3. Excellent writing, editing, presentation, and communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write a diverse range of material, develop well-thought-out policy positions, and edit material prepared by others, required.
  4. Excellent organization, prioritization, and management skills to handle a variety of multi-faceted projects in a fast-paced, high-volume team environment, required.
  5. Polished interpersonal, decision-making, and political skills to interface and communicate with all levels of leadership, staff, and management, and build sustainable trusting relationships with members.
  6. Ability to react quickly, calmy and with sound judgment.
  7. Must meet deadlines with minimal supervision and team spirit in a changing, fast paced environment.
  8. Demonstrated excellent multi-tasking skills, with high-quality standards and strong attention to detail and excellent troubleshooting skills.
  9. Travel and extended hours, including nights and weekends, as business demands dictate, required.

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $85,680-$113,526. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
