Program Support Specialist

Position Summary:



As Program Support Specialist, you'll use your people skills, organizational skills, and sound financial acumen to support a U.S. Navy technical/engineering program. Working directly for the engineering/technical manager, you will support the efforts of the engineering/technical project leads to ensure that funded programs are delivered on-time and on-budget.

Contract Specifications:


  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing program funding from several sponsors
  • Collect, track, monitor, and report on program spend (labor, OT, travel, etc.)
  • Create metrics to identify spending trends in order to proactively manage funding
  • Track travel and follow-up to ensure trip reports are submitted
  • Assist technical leads in meeting preparation and scheduling
  • Create Task Trackers which identify action items for follow-up
  • Collect and consolidate weekly technical reports to produce High Visibility Report to be submitted to management


Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-5 years of professional work experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Superior verbal, grammatical, and written communication skills
  • Dependable and able to work independently
  • Proactive, can-do attitude, able to think outside the box
  • Ability to work effectively with and learn from engineering technical staff
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate effective time management skills
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work with accuracy and efficiency
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Previous government contracts experience a definite plus


Physical Demands and Expectations:

  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 20 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting.
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance.
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
