Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) is an engineering and scientific investigation and failure analysis firm. We primarily work with law firms, insurance companies, and manufacturers on small to large-scale projects to answer any technical questions they have. Our projects can entail investigating major transportation accidents, equipment failures, personal injury claims, and damage to residential or commercial structures. About This Role

The Communications Manager will lead and manage all internal communication efforts, ranging from executive/C-level communication strategies to internal campaigns and major initiatives. This role involves streamlining and optimizing communication workflows throughout the organization to ensure effective and timely dissemination of information. The manager will supervise a team and additionally will partner heavily with the Business Development and Marketing group, overseeing the preparation of all internal materials to achieve successful and on-time launches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and direct internal communication strategies, including executive/C-level communications, HR campaigns, IT systems integrations, and support of Employee Resource Groups.
  • Streamline and optimize communication workflows across the organization.
  • Manage and oversee the communications function within the firm, including short-term workflows, assignments, and prioritization of team efforts, as well as long-term process improvement and firm-level communications strategy.
  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of internal materials to ensure successful and timely launches.
  • Lead end-to-end operational activities of the communication team to enhance overall operational effectiveness.
  • Direct messaging for all firm assets, including employee communications, intranet, consultant information, and campaigns.
  • Develop and implement strategic internal communication strategies on behalf of ESi for external audiences.
  • Define and implement overall communication strategies for the organization, providing coaching, counseling, and ongoing support to ensure credibility and transparency within the organizations.
  • Develop and manage the overall change management program for communications activities at ESi, including organizational changes and process standardization activities.
  • Support marketing and business development efforts through client communications and the development and review of written materials.

Qualifications

Education Required

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

Computer Skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite: Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for creating documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and managing emails.
  • Content Management Systems (CMS): Experience with CMS platforms like WordPress, Umbraco, or SharePoint for managing website content and internal communications portals.
  • Graphic Design Software: Basic knowledge of design tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and online resources like Canva for creating visual content.
  • Web Conferencing Tools: Experience with Microsoft Teams platform.
  • Data Analytics Tools: Data-driven decision making and data analytics/visualization is needed. Ability to use analytics tools like SharePoint, Google Analytics, Tableau, or similar software to track and analyze communication metrics and campaign performance.

Other Skills/Abilities or Other Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Experience in a managerial or leadership role, demonstrating the ability to lead teams and manage communication strategies.
  • Experience in an engineering industry preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong writing and editing skills to create compelling content for various communication channels.
  • Strong project management skills to oversee multiple communication projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • The ability to develop comprehensive communication strategies that align with organizational goals. This involves understanding the target audience, setting clear objectives, and crafting messages that resonate.
  • The ability to turn complex information into clear and engaging messages that connect with cross functional teams and offices.
  • The ability to think creatively and develop innovative communication strategies and campaigns.
  • The ability to analyze communication metrics and campaign performance to make data-driven decisions and improvements.
  • Familiarity with communication tools and software, including content management systems (CMS), email marketing tools, and graphic design software.
